Caleb`s birthstory
Started labor around 6 am Sunday morning I called the doc told him that I was spotting bright red and that I was contracting but not much. Asked if I could go get breakfast and go to church and he gave me the go ahead. I went ahead and did those but needed a few things from Walmart (white shirt for foot prints), Then off to the hospital. Got there around 1330 and was having contractions less then every 5 minutes but was only 2 1/2 centimeters dilated. So I was told to go walking. Funny because when I would walk the contractions didn`t hurt at all but when I would lay in bed or stop walking they were horrible. I went back to the triage nurse and I was 3 cm. My fiance and I thought for sure they were going to send us home, but when they found we lived an hour away we got admitted. We were like (yeahhhh)! Well when they finally got around to moving me into my labor room my contractions stopped completely so I got the luxury of getting pitocin but before I could get that I had to have some kind of antibiotic because the doctors office never sent my results of my GBS testing by the way I was neg. Well they got the pitocin going and not even 10 mins later the contractions were back and they were there with a vengeance. Well I was smart enough to have a Doula. She was great and I think all women should have one!!!! The nurse was trying to be very persistent about me getting an epidural and I was very much against it. Well I decided that I needed to go walking cause things were not going fast enough for me. Went walking and Thank you lord My loving fiance John was there to hold me up when my contractions would hit. When they would hit I would stop walking and hold on to him and for some reason my body would squat down on its own which actually felt better. We had to go back to the room because the nasty antibiotics were creating this nasty taste in my mouth so I wanted to brush my teeth which worked. When I got back to the room I just couldn`t take walking anymore so decided to sit on the ball. Boy does that thing help. After awhile I got back on the bed felt a bad urge to push but apparently I was just 8 cm. So I had a ways to go but not much longer. I just kept laboring along I was getting really mean to everyone I didn`t even want anyone to touch me. I never once yelled that John was never going to touch me again thank goodness. After about an our of that I was 9 cm and they had the doctor come in and break my water once that happened not even 3 mins later i was 9 and a half cm and then like 2 mins later i was pushing. I only push about 5 times. I tore a 2nd degree tear even tho I asked for an episionomy (spelling). I am so proud and happy I did all that work without an epidural and I will do it again. I loved the freedom to walk around and help the baby move down. Even tho it took the same amount of time to have my second son as it did my first it was well worth it. People make it sound like its horrible but it isn`t. The minute that baby is out the pain is gone!!!! Do it without an epidural its better!!!
