Shelby-Lynn-`s birthstory

I went to my doctors appt on Thursday and my blood pressure was incredibly high. I had been diagnosed with preeclampsia a little over a week before. At my appt they wouldn`t let me go home and told me they would probably induce me if I hadn`t already gone into labor. So I went and became comfortable in my room and began the wait. Now, because my blood pressure was so high they wouldn`t let me out of bed for more than the bathroom and ran an IV of fluids and Magnesium sulfate (to prevent seizures, blood pressure can cause seizures.) That afternoon they started me on a very low dose of Pitocin to ripen my cervix. The next morning they increased the pitocin and so labor began, I was already 3 centimeters. The labor wasn`t too bad but I ended up having an epidural because I had a contraction that lasted 2.5 hours and was only 5-6 centimeters. Man oh man the epi was great. Within an hour or so I was fully dialated. It took about 2.5 hours to finally push her out. She had the cord wrapped around her head and neck so I had to push her out very fast and tore A LOT. She was a little gray when she entered the world but is fine now. About 1.5 hours after her birth I was able to hold her. She`s the most beautiful little baby I`ve ever seen. We came home on Sunday. Where`d the sleep go???
