Richard-Jr.`s birthstory
Well, I went to my normal doc appt on the 19th and he surprised me by saying he wanted me to go in that nite and start inducing my labor. I had cervidil placed inside me at about 9:30 pm. At 5:30 am they came in and removed it, broke my water and started the pitocin. Contractions came quickly and close together, unfortunately my nurse didnt have the monitor on properly and it wasnt registering my contractions, so she kept increasing the dose of pitocin. Finally I set her straight but by then going natural was out of the question. I barely had time to breath between contractions and quickly asked for the epidural. Unfortunately for me I was also a bit dehydrated so they had to hydrate me on a saline drip for 30 minutes before the epidural. But when it came the releif was almost instant. The contractions were coming and I didnt feel a thing. When it came time to push though, I felt everything down there. For all those saying they wanna go natural, it takes so much out of you that had i not had an epidural, I dont think I would have been able to push the baby out. I would have been too exhausted. But to each her own. After an hour of pushing and finally thinking I was going to pass out, I noticed more nurses enter the room and I thought to myself, this is it. They are here for a reason, he must be close, and on that last contraction I pushed at least 6 times just to finally get him out. The overwhelming feeling of releif and happiness was so great. He was beautiful, my husband and mom were both crying. He was 8lbs 3ozs and was 21inches long. Beautiful bouncing baby boy. It took about another hour to finish up with me and I finally had a chance to hold him. I`m a first time mom and that moment was tremendous. Etched in my memory forever. I just wanna say good luck to everyone and congratulations. It`s a joyous thing we have done and are doing.
