Uniah was 8lbs 4oz..20&1/2"..nubane and an epidural

I was induced. The night before the induction my huband and I did the deed and about a half an hour later I started getting contractions. The lasted all night long about 10 minutes apart and fizzled out about 7am. My husband went off to work and I continued to have contractions on and off all day long. About one an hour. The induction was scheduled for 9pm. We went in and the nurse hooked me up to an i.v...the doctor came in and inserted a foley cathader and they turned the pitocen on. I was 1 cm and 70%effaced. The contractions started coming every 4 minutes but I could tolerate them pretty well. Mu husband and I did crosswords and layed around and watched tv. At about 2:30 am I got up to pee and the foley fell out in the toilet!! I was finally 4&1/2 cm...The nurse came in to check me and was like do you want anything for the pain??? I told her no-(I really was fine) but she was like "you've been at this for a while, are you sure?" So I caved in and opted for the nubane...can you say heaven!! It was like floating on a cloud. The onlly problem is that I was so high I just wanted to sit and giggle instead of rest-not good. My husband was like "Go to sleep!!" I was just having too much fun, I couldent!! Well the nubane started to wear off an hour later and holy crap contractions hurt!!! I wish I never would have gotten the nubane..I was doing just fine, so I started begginf for an epidural around 5cm(3-4am)...A half an hour later the doc came in and gave me the epidural...It was great-----at first..then I started feeling really sick and couldnt open my eyes...the pressure was so intense I thought I was being ripped open. I didnt think the epidural was working, thats when the nurse told me there was a push button...Duh- why didnt anyone tell me this sooner....it didnt matter---I hated it.....Finally someone came in around 11am and checked me and I was 7cm...she told me I still had at least 2 hours to go. 15 minutes later Istarted feeling so much pressure down there I thought Uniah was going to fall out!! I begged someone to come check me and I was 10cm!!! After pushing for an hour he got stuck due to shoulder dyscotia but the midwife cut me and he came out about 10 minutes later...He was beautiful...All I could say was "He's so cute!!!!

Gloria was 7lbs 1 oz-20" long w/some pain relief

We were driving home from my sisters after eating Thanksgiving dinner and I started feeling funny..now that I think about it they were painless contractions..This was 3 days before my due date. When we got home I took a shower and went to sleep. At 10:30 I woke up to a really bad stomach ache. At first I though I had indegestion due to all the food I ate but then I realized the pain was coming every 12-20 minutes and lasting about 40 seconds......I laid there for about 2 hours and then went into the spare bedroom to start timing so I wouldnt wake up my husband (he is a beast if he doesnt get hie beauty rest!). I laid there untill about 2am using nipple stimulation when the contractions would slow. Finally I started to realized that I could keep the contraction regular with the stimulation so I went downstairs called my mom to see what she thought..She arrived at 2:30am,when I went to pee I thought I felt some water leaking out ,and then I wiped and sure enough there was my bloody-show so I woke up the beast and we headed to the hospital. We were in a good mood despite the pain, laughing and joking....When we got there they checked me and did a fern test to see if it was my water..I was 3&1/2cm and sure enough I had a very small leak so they made us stay. At about 4:00 am my husband called in work and we headed to the birthing suite. She checked me again and I was still the same so we went walking to try and speed things up...Everytime I had a contraction I felt like I had to pee so it was alot of rushing ot the bathroom. I had an iv in cause I was group b positive had the medicne actually hurt going in..Finally I was getting tired and fed up so we headed back to the room it was 5:30am. They checked me again and I was 4-5 cm my mood turned pretty bad and I started feeling like I wanted the epidural just so I could rest..I was so tired. After alot of debating and realizing Gloria was "sunny side up" I went ahead and got the epidural--big mistake again!! So I started feeling really nauseous again, just like last time and the doc who gave me the epi tried to say that I was wrong and the epi wasnt causing it..Whatever,,,I felt like crap...about an hour went by, my contractions stopped, they had to up the pitocen-then my husband noticed that my eye was sagging, I couldnt open my eye at all!! I couldnt move my arm, infact I couldnt move anything on the left side of my body!!!! The anastheioslogist was called back in and they had to turn it off...He told me I had something called Horners syndrome..this was just a TERRIBLE experience...The nurse was rude I couldnt stand her-she had a stick up her ass-the anasthesiologist was a jerk and G-G was in the wrong position.....At about 1pm I was ready to push....I was standing in the stirrups, it was crazy..I just felt like I couldnt do it...I was a mess. I pushed so hard and when I started to feel the burning "ring of fire" I started screaming to PUT HER BACK IN!! Everyone was laughing at me but in my head it made perfect sense..Push her back in Ill have a c-section and all will be well...whatever--- she seemed to crown forever and finally out she came at 1:37pm...what felt like forever was only a half an hour of pushing....she was so pale I was scared to death, I though something was wrong---but she was just fine....

Jonah-`s birthstory

Well I went in at 5am for my induction..my first son got stuck on the way out so I was induced because Jonah was getting big, maybe too big for my pelivs...I had to have the foley cath because I was only 1-2cm dilated..They turned the pitocen on at 10:30 and it only took about 3 hours to dilate to 5..Once I got to 5 I was stuck there for about 3-4 hours..I had made it this far without the epidural but I was getting extremely discouraged and the contractions were so intense I was trembling all over and in an unbearable amout of pain..my jaw wouldnt stop chattering!! The contraction were every 2 minutes and extremely strong so I caved and asked for the epidural..I got the epidural and it only took on my left side! The nurse checked me right after I got the epidural and I went from 5 to 8cm in 10 minutes!! The doc came in and re-did my epidural..this time it was TOO strong...I was so numb it was freaky!! Anyway...at about 8pm I was fully dilated but could not feel a thing!! I had to sit and wait for the epidural to wear off so I could feel where to push! Around 9:30pm I started getting my legs back so I knelt at the edge of the bed and BAM-my husband was like I can see his head!! He ran and got the doctor, the doctor didnt believe him and was like give me one more push like that, when I did his litte head almost popped out! The doc was like get back on the bed so I can work and less than 10 minutes later Jonah was born.........Here is the scary part....I hemmoraged afterward....they could not get me to stop bleeding. Every one started running around like ants and all I heard my doctor say is Im concerened..you just wont stop bleeding. Him and the nurse had to "massage" my uterus to make it stop and it was the most severe pain I have ever felt. I was screaming at the top of my lungs...they did this on and off for an hour it was so bad...I had to have a cytotec pill in the booty and it made it stop...I am still SO SORE and have been on some pretty strong pain meds..the good thing is I dont even feel like I gave birth "down there"..nothing is sore or tender...just my uterus..

Jessica`s birthstory

I had a sweep at my 39 week appointment on the 6th. I was 2cm and 50%. I didnt think it was going to work!! The next day-Saturday the 7th I woke up that morning feeling very distant and like i really wanted to be left alone. I was a little crampy and sore-premenstrual feeling. There was a sensation of warmth in the abdomen, my bh`s were sporadic throughout the day but normal. I had some pink mucous all day that I thought was from the sweep the previous day. At around 5:45pm I was sitting in bed reading a book and felt a contraction that felt a little `different`..It was a bh`s that had a little bit of pain included. They just kept coming! Very irregular and about 6-16 minutes apart. Not strong or very painful but regular!!! I figured they would fizzle out. I would stimulate my nipples every now and then and when it would make the contractions worse I KNEW it was real labor! Around 10pm I went into active labor. The contractions were painful and every 3-5 minutes apart. I had a 35-40 minutes drive to the hospital so at around 11pm we headed in to the hospital! When I was checked into triage I was 4cm and 80%..They moved me to a room and we quickly set up the birth pool! My labor stalled a little bit for about an hour as my focus switched from labor to setting up the pool. It was a welcome break from the pain. When everything was set up I hopped in and it was back to business. The midwife was very hands off. I was checking my own progression which was pretty cool. When I did let the midwife check I was always spot on! Around 3am things got intense!! The contractions were coming closer together and picking up in intensity. I could feel my bag of water bulging! Transition was dragged out because she wasn`t in a great position and was trying to rotate. Pretty soon I was 9.5cm-still with a bulging bad and screaming for drugs like a madwoman!! I was cussing like a sailor at everyone including my poor little baby girl!! Being in the water was strange but I refused to get out. Everyone was telling me to push but I knew it wasnt time yet. Trust me I wanted it to be, I was 10cm but I had no urge to push. Her bag of water was still intact at 10 cm! The midwife broke it which pissed me off because I really have a feeling she would have been born in her sac which would have been so cool. I just waited and let my body involuntarily start to push..My labor went crazy! I had no break between contractions to rest and was in serious back labor. I found it difficult to push in the water I couldnt get my bearings. When my body took over and started pushing it was crazy! I actually floated to the top of the pool and someone had to grab my head from going under! I felt her head pop out and she was freaking sideways!! I was llike hey! Theres her ear! She was stuck crowning for a minute and then I really was working to get her shoulders out when BAM my body took over again and she came flying out in one big contraction. I reached down and grabbed her out of the water and put her on my chest and she was so calm just staring at me!! I had a really short cord that they let pulse and she didnt start to cry until it was cut. It was time to deliver my placenta and things drastically went south. Before the placenta came out there was a big gush of blood and I knew I was hemorrhaging again. They got me to the bed and couldnt stop the bleeding. Once again I had a nurse with a hand inserted into my womb with sterile gauze and another compressing my uterus trying to make it stop and it just wouldn`t. It was a nightmare. I had 4 pills of cytotec inserted into my anus, a shot of methergine in the leg and pitocen inserted in a bag of fluids in my i.v. After about 15 minutes they had got control of the bleeding but she was concerned I had a tear in my cervix. I was soaking wet on the bed with compression clamps in my vagina clamping my cervix while I waited another 20 minutes for the freaking doctor to show up and stitch the laceration. I began to go into shock and thought I was going to die! Finally the doc shows up, examines my cervix and thank you Jesus there was no tear! I was covered in blood, soaking wet from the waterbirth and legs spread int the stirrups for an hour while the baby had to be taken out of the room because she was retracting a bit and I had to be stabilized. I was borderline in shock and my bp was extremely low. It was almost 4 hours before I got to see her again! On my way to my recovery room I happened to look back and the room looked like someone was shot! There was so much blood everywhere..It was so traumatic I was mortified. When I finally got to see her it was such a relief. I just cried and cried. It took all day for the trauma of what happened after the birth to wear off and we started bonding immediately! IT was a perfect labor and delivery. What happened afterward is slowly fading from my mind and I can appreciate how beautiful the experience was.
