Madison-Carmelle`s birthstory
On a bright sunny Friday morning I woke up at 8:20 am with period pains. They were very mild and I thought it was because of the way i had slept the night before. So i didnt take much notice of them. By 12:20 the mild pains became cramps. I went to the toilet and had a slight `show`. I called my mom and asked if she could come home because my tummy was a little sore.
My boyfriend was working morning shift that day and i kept trying to phone him but his phone was off. I became extremely frustrated. My mother came home at 3pm and by then I could tell I was in labour. My boyfriend also arried home at that time thankfully and informed me that his phone was stolen during the day. We all jumped in the car and I was at the Hospital at around 4pm. The drive to the hospital seemed like forever. The pain was so-not what i expected.
I planned to have a natural birth with no pain relief (I was trying to be brave), but when I was laying there in the labour ward i begged for a epidural. Well, that didnt go all too well because the doctor couldnt get the needle in the correct position. She tried for over an hour to administer the epidural. During all of this i was given etonox (which kept me calm and helped a great deal with taking the edge off the pain). She eventually after much persistance got the needle in the correct place.
At 4pm i was 4cm dialated and by 6:30 i was 7cm. I wasnt sure if my waters had broken yet and they said they would induce me....but....my waters HAD broken during the course of the day. All I wanted to do was push out my baby, but the nurse said I wasnt ready. At 8cm the epidual had worn off and I didnt have any form of pain releif besides my etonox.
At 20:20pm I started to push and a was 10cm dialated. The pain was unbearable. I wasnt aware that they let the epidural ware off before you are ready to push. If i had known that then I wouldnt have had it in the first place. At 20:50pm the doctor said that baby wasnt descending like she was supposed to so he decided to use the suction. He told me I had 10mins to get her out as 10mins was all the time he could use the suction. I pushed with everything I had inside be and by 21:05pm a beautiful healthy little girl was placed on my tummy. She didnt even cry.....not until the started wiping her down.
