Thursday July 24, 2008:


David and I checked into the hospital at 8:45 p.m. and did our admission paperwork. We were shown to our room about 9 p.m. My first dose of cytotec was at 10:30 p.m. and it was explained to me that I would receive another dose at 2:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. At the time of admission I was not effaced and only 1 cm dilated. I took my cytotec and my ambien and went to sleep. I got my other doses as scheduled and slept through the night. David slept on the couch in my room.


Friday July 25, 2008:


Dr. Ramsey came to see me about 9:00 a.m. to check my progress from the cytotec. I was about 2 cm and 50% effaced. She scheduled my pitocin to start at 10 a.m. I contracted from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. without pain relief. I was still 2 cm dilated and about 75% effaced. After 3 1/2 hours of intense contractions and such slow progression, I decided that I would get my edpidural. Around 7:00 pm I had progressed to 4 cm and 80% effaced. Natalie`s heart rate was dropping down into the 70s and 80s during my contractions at this point in time. They decided to try to amnioinfuse some fluids into my uterus to try to float her off of her cord since it was probably compressed. I was also talked to about the possiblity of a c-section. I told them I wasn`t ready to give up yet or make that decision.

By midnight i was still 4 cm dilated and her heart rate was still compromised during contractions. After 14 hours of contractions and slow progress, I decided that it was best for Natalie to be taken by c-section.

Saturday July 26, 2008:

Natalie Joy was born at 1:04 a.m. weighing 6 lbs 8 oz. and was 19 inches long. She has her daddy`s toes and lips and her mommy`s chin so far. We are so blessed to finally have her here. She`s absolutely beautiful.

Vincent-David`s birthstory

We welcomed Vince into the world on 3/2/10 which is so neat! I was considering a VBAC but my body did not cooperate and baby was face up. Doc said it was a good thing I didn`t try, most likely would have had a c/s anyways. So we went in for repeat section and it was so much better than the first! I was awake and got to enjoy the experience! He has a head full of hair which was completely unexpected!
