Amarii-May`s birthstory
I woke up at 2am to got to the loo, next minute I have liquid running down my leg. I woke hubby up with the magic words `I think my water just broke`. Up he gets quick as, sayin `ok what do we do`, anyway we rang the hosital to let them know, she asks if any pains have started, none had so she told me to try and get some rest and come in first thing in the morning. How could I rest? I went for a shower and then the pains started, so we jumped in the car and headed up to the hospital. The hooked me up to a machine that monitors the babys heart rate and my contractions, the pains started t get more and more intense and she told me it was earlie days, I was thinkin `oh my god, early days`. Anyway I started to vomit when the pain was real bad, so they gave me some panodol and some pill to relax me, as if that worked. At 7am they took me down to the birthing suite and gave me gas, that and the shower helped for a while. At 8am my doctor came in and I was 5 1/2 cm dialated, not long after that I asked for some better pain releif. By this time I was never having anymore children. At about 11am I asked for an Epidural, the midwife and my husband tried to talk me out of it, but I layed it down to them that I was having it. To my disapointment it didn`t work propably, I ask the midwife if I should still be able to feel anything cause I could, so she tested diferent parts of my lower body with ice to see where it worked, but it didnt. She told me it was good that I coud still feel my contractions cause they wouldn`t have to tell me when to push. At 12:45pm I was fully dialated and it was time to push, wow its amazing what your body is capable of, after every push I thought to my self `I cant push anymore` but I did. All that pushing to get her head out and then the rest of her followed. What a relief it was when she was out. She was put straight on my chest, it was an unbeleivable feeling. Then they wanted me to push the placenta out, yeah right, I was to focused on my little girl, the last thing I felt like was pushing again. I had my husband and mum with me during the labour, they where so great, so was the midwife. Amarii was born 2 weeks early weight 7.8lbs,and 52cm long. She has a head full of beautiful dark hair and she looks so much like her daddy. The first night in hospital was a sleepless night, every move she made I woke to see if she was ok. Feeding isn`t going to well, she wont latch on with out a nipple shield, and I have got mastitis. Other than that everythig is going great, she is changing everyday. Her daddy is over the moon with his daughter, and misses her very much when he is at work.
