Gordon-Timothy-James`s birthstory
Prelabor started at home at 9 PM. I had regular contractions all night that were 5 - 7 minutes apart off and on. At 10 AM on Tuesday May 25, 2010 I lost my plug and had bloody show. I called the midwives and they came. I had contractions 4 minutes apart about 11 AM. I was going to have a homebirth and after an internal they couldn`t decide if they felt a prolapse cord or a hand and later decided it was a hand. About 11:15 AM my water broke (THANK GOD - the relief was astounding! lol) but after another internal they discovered that the `hands` were actually feet. He was breech! They had done an ultrasound not 5 days before and he was head down, so he was surprising us all. I could feel the feet coming down which was really really odd. I was told to lay down on the front room floor when the ambulance showed up. Everyone was rushing with adrenaline and the midwives were freaking out a bit from everything. After an ambulance ride to the hospital and a transfer to a birthing bed I was stripped down which I was joking with the nurses, everyone was worried and I think I was in shock. I was then transfered to an operating table for an emergency c-section. The nurses and anesthesiologist were arguing over an epidural which would take 20 min (already trying VERY hard not to push) and general anesthetic which would take about 2 min to put me out. I just said whatever was easiest to save the baby and to not worry about me. He was still trying to convince me when I signed papers. Within 20 minutes of feeling my baby`s feet coming out I was knocked out. I woke up around 1:45 PM and was told that my son was delivered at 1:04 PM. Gordon was really cute and I had a nice long scar. Today a week later I`m still taking care of it and still adjusting to life as a c-sectionee with 3 kidlets LOL. Definitely NOT the experience I was looking forward to, but he`s here safe and sound and I`m just happy that nothing worse happened.
