Aiden-Niko-Karagiannis`s birthstory

Well it all started on February 10th. I was having my last family baby shower, and at the end it seemed that my water had broke. I went to the hospital and they checked with the Litmus paper and it was negative so they were just about to release me when they checked again and it came back positive. I was having contractions the whole time so they wanted to check with an ultrasound to see if my water really had broken. They checked and found out that I was leaking amniotic fluid. I still had some left but about half of it had leaked out. They went ahead and decided to induce b/c if your leaking fluid you can get an infection. They started me on pitocin at midnight and then really cranked it up at 7am the 11th. They drew labs on me in the mean time and I got an epidural. At about 1pm the doc checked me and I was at 2cm which I had been even before I came to the hospital. Also, my labs came back and I had pre-eclampsia and my liver and kidneys were shutting down. I was also starting to run fever which could be a sign of infection. Basically everything that could go wrong, went wrong. So the doc decided to do an emergency c-section. I was rushed in and had Aiden Niko Karagiannis at 1:45pm on February 11th. The neonatologist said that the baby was fine and he was taken to the nursery. While I was recovering the NICU nurse came by with him and said they were taking him to the NICU b/c his breathing was labored and really fast. I saw him for about 30 seconds before they took him. I went to the NICU later that night and they had tubes and wires all over him. His lungs were premature and had fluid in them so he was going to have to stay there a while. He`s been in the NICU for almost 2 weeks now, but hopefully he`ll be able to come home soon!!!!!
