Duration of labor: 28 hours
Weight @ birth: 8 pounds, 3 ounces
Length @ birth: 19 1/4 inches

So I went for my induction on Monday afternoon cause I was HUGE and swollen and my doctor thought he might be close to 10 pounds. They put the cervadil in which started contractions by early evening. I was having contractions all night so they pulled out the cervadil around 6 am. My doctor started the pitocin around 9 am which started real contractions. I was in labor ALL day which really sucked. I was in so much pain so my doctor gave me stadol which made me really out of it. I do not recommend it at all. It just made my contractions feel worse cause I was half asleep and couldn't fully prepare for the pain. I was so glad when it started to wear off even though my contractions were getting worse by then. The whole day was a blur but I think it was around 5 or 6 pm when my doctor asked me if I wanted the epidural. I had been in labor since the night before and I was 3 cm dilated and the baby was really far up still. She said that the epidural might help me relax and he would move down. So they brought me into a labor room and the anastesiologist came in. I did NOT wanna look at the needle. I was shaking so bad! Well, once that was over I felt AWESOME!!! I watched the yankee game and kinda forgot about my contractions for a while until the next time my doctor came to check me. It was around 7 pm I think and I was still 3 cms and his head had not come down AT ALL! I couldn't believe it! That is when she started talking about a c-section. I didn't think I would have to have one, but she explained that there was probably a reason why he wasn't moving, but she would let me keep trying if I wanted. So an hour later, she came back to check me again. Not only had he not moved at all, but his head was beginning to get swollen from trying to push his way out. When she told me this I agreed to the c-section. So they prepared me and my husband put on his operating room outfit (he looked so cute!) and they brought me in. It felt like forever that they were tugging on my insides but all of a sudden Juan screamed "WOW! It's our baby!!!" and then I heard a cry. It obviously made me cry too! Since I was laying there with my insides hanging out I couldn't hold him yet but Juan did and the neonatologist inspected him and brought him over for me to look at. He told me the baby was perfect which made me cry even harder. They put him down in this little tray thing and my husband stood over him talking to him and taking pictures. I remember him saying "wow he has sideburns!" and I looked over at his little feet kicking in the air and thinking they looked exactly the same as Juan's feet. The anastesiologist gave me some morphine and I was feeling great! I just couldn't wait to hold my baby. In the recovery room I couldn't really hold him, though, cause my arms were kinda weak and numb. I was able to pull down my little gown and put the naked baby on my chest which was the cutest thing ever! He made his way over to my boob and knew exactly what to do! When my doctor came in I found out that the reason why he was stuck was cause he was turned sideways inside me. When she opened me up the first thing she saw was his little ear! He definitely was trying to come out, though, cause he had a lopsided conehead! That night was the best night of my life and I can't wait to have another one! haha
