Started getting pains at 2:30pm on the 29-9-08 after trying "nipple stimulation" I read online to roll your nipples between your thumb and finger for ten minutes each breast well I started getting contractions straight away like dull period pains then went for a walk at about 3:30pm and they didn't go away. They were getting worse and so I called my midwife at 7:30pm to let her know what was happening and she said to call when I needed her. I had a shower and tried to go to bed at about 9pm but by then they were so bad I couldn't sleep through them but still nothing compared to how bad they were going to get. I started losing big chunks of mucus plug but had no blood tinges til after my internal when midwife showed up

At about 3am they were really hard to handle I tried using a tens machine and heatpacks and walking and sitting and relaxing and all the things they tell you to do but realised that pretty much nothing distracts you from or takes that pain away lol. Breathing was the only thing that helped. I ended up vomiting at about 6am 3 or 4 times and I think this must be when I was in transition and it was friggin painful on my hands and knees over a bucket vomiting while contracting haha, I started to feel like I just wasnt physically capable then.

My mum came over at about 7am and midwife came at 7:30am I got an internal and was 8cm dilated and just about ready to push.I started pushing and my waters broke. At 9:24am after 19 minutes of pushing he was out, no tears just a slight graze. I didn't have any pain relief and it was exactly how I wanted it. It was just me and my boyfriend for most of the labour and I really can't imagine doing it any other way now. He latched on straight away and I pushed the placenta out naturally (without that injection they give you) then had a shower and got dressed :)

So for those of you having "no signs" I had no plug loss besides little bits here and there starting at about 35 weeks, I had no show at all and my waters didn't break til pushing!!

It was 6 and a half hours of established labour, 19 mins of pushing and no pain relief all at home with no one there til right at the end - I am so in love with my son
