katies birth:
i took the dog for a walk at 10pm at night came back, said to my hub that she is pushing down alot ....got in the tub and my water broke(i laughed! since I said months early that she would come on the 14th and i thought it was a proper place for a water to break). Nurse said to come in but we decided to do a few things before since we knew i would just sit there until I got grey hair. We did laundry, dishwasher, got the dog all set for my parents to pick him up. we got there at 12am.
nurses said this should be a easy birth(4 hours tops) but then my darling girl didn't have a road map and was aiming for my hip rather then "the light at the end of the tunnel!". They gave me pitocin and i demanded a epi(my deal was ...you insist on drugs i insist on better drugs!). finally 13 hours later w/ some prayer and movement my katie turned her head towards the doc. i pushed for maybe 45 minutes and w/ the finally push i decided this was silly and pushed as hard as i could and out she flew! the doc looked at my hub and said "she just threw the baby at me!". The whole time i was thinking "I can do all things through Christ and then ........i can do all things through Christ!". Once kate was out the doc looked at both of us w/ wide eyes and said "this child shouldn't be alive". Her cord was tied in a knot so it was cutting off oxygen and everything else. Her stats did drop and they put me on oxygen before the hard labor. She was a wild woman in my belly so it doesn't surprise me(nurses even said that i got a high matience baby in my belly!). She's not high matience but started teething at two months which caused alot of drama. ....so maybe your baby isn't colic its teething ...check those gums is he first mommy lesson I learned.
they put her on me and she looked right at me like "hi mommy!". she was/is precious. she was 5.12 at birth and 9.5 inches long.
Honestly, 14 hours of labor, 45 mins of hard labor aren't that bad. I doubt I would have a epi the second time as I could feel her start to stitch me up at the end. She said I shouldn't not have been able to see a thing but I felt the needle. They numbed it and all was fine. I didn't tear outside but inside and it took about 6 months to heal. I think I could feel the birth pains also but I am a little unsure ....how much does a epi help? I could feel my skin ripping as she came through but in the end its not a huge deal. Better out then in I always say! God did create the female body to have babies so I trust in his plan and it worked beautifully
...I prayed for a strong willed, blue eyed, brilliant child ...full of Christ love and joy! She totally is!
