Paige-Noelle`s birthstory
I woke up at 3:00am to pee and went to lay back down but started feeling nauseous. Finally started to drift off to sleep about the time that I felt a little bit of wetness and woke my husband up to tell him that my water broke. I started doubting myself when I didn`t feel anymore fluid and there was such a small amount in my panties that I was thinking maybe I just peed myself and didn`t realize it especially since it didn`t have much of a smell. I told my husband that it was probably just a false alarm and we should just lay back down for a little while to see if any more fluid came out. As soon as I lifted my leg to get back in bed I had a little more trickle out and it smelled really sweet so I no longer doubted it! I called my Dr to make sure she wanted me to come on in and she told me to take my time and go ahead and eat a light breakfast. So I took a shower and got a few things together and notified all the family and finally arrived at the hospital about 6:00am. I had started having really mild contractions that were about 7 minutes apart that unfortunately tapered off. My Dr came in to see me about 9:15am and finished breaking my water and started me on Pitocin about 9:30am. I opted for an epidural after months of agonizing over the decision and I`m glad I did (this delivery was much easier than my delivery at 22 weeks with my stillborn)! I still had quite a bit of pain in my left hip area even with the epidural so the anesthesiologist gave me a little more medication in my epidural which turned out to be a mixed blessing LOL I was fully dilated by noon but was not able to start pushing since my Dr was still in her office seeing patients. My nurse informed me that she was instructed to call at 1:00pm to check in with the Dr and she we figure out what to do with the rest of her afternoon appointments. I was kinda annoyed by this seeing as I`ve had to wait way past my appointment time in her office many times (probably for other people delivering). They told me my Dr was on her way and she arrived about 1:10-1:15pm and I started pushing. This is where the epidural was a mixed blessing...I was so numb I couldn`t feel my legs or the urge to push at all because of the extra medication. So they had to hold my legs up for me. But she was out in about 5 pushes and a 2nd degree episiotomy. I was a little frustrated that I could have probably had her an hour or more earlier than what I did since we had to work around the Dr`s schedule, but she`s here now and that`s all that matters! So all in all, my labor lasted only about 4 hours and I have a perfect little girl to show for it! It is so much more amazing than I ever could have imagined and look forward to watching her grow up!
