Lauren-Elizabeth`s birthstory

Well we got to the hospital about 6 am to be induced. They started that around 7ish and broke my water about 9:30 (it didnt take long after that for the contractions to begin!) and I got my epidural shortly after that. I didnt think that I needed it at that point but they Dr said, "Why not get it now, you are going to want it anyway correct?" LOL, I said yep! So we got that going around I believe it was between 11 and noon. The contractions really were not that bad......at this point. It was just shortly after that, I realized that the epidural had only worked on half of my body so I informed the nurse of this and they quickly gave me a spinal block thru the same place they had the epidural. (which was WONDERFUL!) I ended up not being able to move my body from the waist down until around 3am the next morning but along with this, I felt NO pain until then also! <3 It was sometime between 4:30 and 5:00 pm the nurse came in and checked my cervix again and said I will be back in a minute. After a few minutes she came back into my room with somewhat of a disappointed look on her face and said if I hadnt dialated to atleast 8cm by 6pm they were going to get the OR ready to take the baby C-Section. I said ok and when she left the room I just cried and cried and cried some more. LOL, I really did not want to have one! So after my husband calmed me down his mother came in to sit with me while he went with my parents and sister to the cafateria to get some supper becuse it looked like it was going to be a long night. A few minutes after he left I was in so much pain I couldnt even tell my MIL what was wrong. I just hid my face and held my breath through the contractions. They were all of the sudden extremly painful and right on top of each other. I could not believe I went from feeling NO pain to being in that much pain in just the blink of an eye. Just then the nurse walked in to tell me they were preping the OR and she was going to check me one last time. And just then she looked at my MIL and said where is the father, you should go get him NOW! She pushed the button for the nurse's station and call the dr in. My MIL took off for the elevator to get my husband and he made it into the room just as I was starting to push. As soon as I started to push through the contractions they quit hurting. I only pushed for about 17 minutes (if that) and our brand new baby girl had arrived! She was the most beautiful little person that I had ever seen! (I had nightmares and was extreamly worried that I would think she wasnt cute, how dumb!) I was probably only in "PAIN" for about 20 minutes tops! Maybe not even that long! All in all.....I had an absoutly amazing labor and delivery! <3

Katherine-Lee-Rita`s birthstory

We showed up at the hospital at 7:30am to be induced and by 8:30am pit was already started, my water was broken (via dr), and I was having contractions! when we arrived at the hospital I was 1cm and 50%, by noon I was 100% and 5cm! At that point I asked for my epidural. It sucked getting it but after I did it was smooth sailing! I felt no pain from then until after it was all over! When that kicked in I decided that I was comfortable enough to take a small nap :) when I woke up I could feel ALOT of pressure happening. It was a super weird sensation because there was no pain with it! By this time it was spittle after 2pm and the nurse asked if I`d like to be checked and I said yes. Well when she did her eyes about bugged out of her head w excitement! LOL She said ur complete, do you feel like you have to push? I told her no and she called for the other nurse and she said to call for the doctor. So she did and he said to have me push for a while and then call him back when I was ready. So she hung up te phone and they got me in position and said ok now push, as soon as I had started they all started yelling `STOP` so I stopped and started laughing. They called the dr back and said ok she`s complete and the head is right there! So then we had to wait for him to get to my room. When he finally got there (it seemed like it took him forever!!!) I pushed 2 1/2 times and our newest bundle of joy was here!!! She looks exactly like her big sister and our little family feels sooo much fuller with her in it!
