kaydence-jayla`s birthstory

Well our doctor had said she was a big baby but little did we know. So at 37 weeks I did not expect that our water would break early sunday morning at 2 am. We were admitted to the hospital. We were given an iv and pitocin to get contractions moving faster as you have a time clock with labors where your amniotic fluid has been ruptured. After laboring to 4 cm and 100% effaced it became to painfulk and we choose to have an epidural. After the epidural it was bearable, although I still had a strip across my abdomen that I could feel. This was okay though since I could still tell when to push. My meds started to wear off for some unknown reason so they uped my balist. I know could not feel anything anymore and it was hard to lift my legs. They said she wasn`t progressing because she was facing sunny side up. so they had my try all these maneuvers: turning on my sides, putting my legs in these crazy leg stirrups, on my knees and of course the usual lay on your back. Finally she moved enough to have some progress. They started talking c section because I was approaching my 17th hour and 18 hours they need to do a c section to limit the chance of infection. I of course cried but found newly found pushing power. Kaydence Jayla was born at 7:39pm with her left arm over her chest and weighing 8lbs 3 ounces and 20 3/4 inches long and with loads of dark brown hair. Thank goodness she came early at 37 weeks because I can`t imagine how big she would have been at full term. My obsetrician had to manually removed my placenta because it was stuck ( ya that was fun)
We stayed an extra day ion the hospital because she is having troubles feeding with latching on, so they deemed this medically necessary. She went home at 7lbs 9 ounces and we are working with a lactation specialist to keep her from losing more weight. They say this feeding problem has do with the fact that she was early. She is now weighing at 7lbs 4 ounces and hoovering close to the 10% lose of weight procentile so they have added a formula supplement to give while breastfeeding. hopefuly this will help and my milk will come in soon.
We feel so blessed and are overwelmed with emotions over our new little princess.
I have been having lots of crying spells but hopefully this will fade as well. I`m sore and tried but feeling very fulfilled.

kaelyn-lanae`s birthstory

nov 25th I went to work and was excited about the prospect of the four day week because of thanksgiving. I was happy when the day was over and After josh dropped kaydence off to me. We went to winco to pick up turkey legs ( they had non) but we got some other stuff instead. We then stopped at fred meyers and picked up a couple things. We got home and put stuff away and before I knew it the time had passed into kaydence`s bedtime and mine. Kaydence had even fallen alseep in her high chair. I took her up to bed and she was so tired she didnt even wake up. I then checked my facebook and noticed my brother brad was on skype. We talked and then just as we were getting ready to get off I coughed and my water broke at 9:03pm. At first I thought did I just pee myself ansd then as I was running to the bathroom I realized that my water had broken. I told brad I had to go and why and then begun to try to get ahold of josh for the next 20mins.. i called him, texted him, skype message and even facebook messaged him. I finally decided that I was going to hop in the shower to wash up and shave and thats when josh finally called he said ` sorry honey, my phone was on silent.. whats up?` I was like `ya i have been trying to call you for 20minutes.. my water broke` he was like ` really, okay i m leaving now im on my way` I called my mom and told her we were bring kaydence over and why and I finished my shower and begun to get ready and put stuff together. At several times I had to stop and just breath because my contractions where about 2-3 minutes apart and becoming painful. Josh got home at around 9:45. he helped me get kaydence in the car, the high chair, the thanksgiving food, her playyard and her bag I had just packed. Kaydence cried alittle in the car but luckily after a minute or so she stopped. I was in alot of pain with the contractions about 2 minutes apart. Josh was going about 70 mph the whole way down high 9. I kept tellign him I was going to die and that I wanted him to run red lights and pass people. He kept saying ` i cant run the ligths honey, i will pass him when I can.. your doing so good you can do this` He called the hospital and told them what was going on and caleld andrew and told him to meet us out front so they could take kaydence and all the stuff out of the car. I was doing my breathing in so much pain. After everything was out of the car we sped of to the hospital. I told josh to call the hospital and tell them to have the anethesiologist ready. About 5miles from the hospital I told him I was feeling like I had to push.. the hospital told him if he felt like he had to pull oevr and just call 911 and he said no. we got to the hospital at 10:50. I tried to put my flip flops on as I was getting out of the car but I coudlnt even stand. I saw the wheel chair sitting in the hospital enterance way. Josh tried to have me put my arms aroudn his neck but it was too hard. I just crouched down and thats when the nurses came running out with the wheel chair and helped me into it. I was doing my breathing the whole way to my room and trying to answer questions and being introduced to the nurses and the on call doctor. my nurses were really sweet ( pat, laura, and robyn) and the on call dr- dr russell was great. I got to the room and told them I had to pee. dr russell asked if i wanted her to check me 1st i said no. of courswe once i got to the toilet i didnt really have to go. i lay on the bed and she checked me and said I was already complete and the baby was +1 . I told her I wanted an epidural. She said well we can give you one but we need to give you an IV 1st and then we can give u the epidural but its going to take 20 minutes to kick in and I dont know if it will kick in soon enough before you deliver. I said I wanted to try. so they gave me an iv but within several minutes I started to really get the urge to push. I pushed 4 big pushes and our baby girl entered the world at 11:05pm. I had no time for any drugs and had delivered our daughter within 15 minutes of arriving to the hospital. Our baby girl was alittle shocked when she came out so they cut her cord and suctioned her and took her over to the baby station to dry her off and get her stable and then she started to cry. within a couple minutes she lay on my chest very calm and looking so much like her big sister I thought I was having a flash back. The dr took care of my placenta no problmes but I did have a large hematoma on my left labia but no rips/tears. our daughter weighed a large 9lbs 8 ozs and was 21inches.. she also had so bruising on her right arm but they think thats from passing my pelvic bone. she has lots of drak brown hair and the same `stork bite` on her forehead as sister kaydence. Unfortunitly my sister and mom missed the birth and arrived 10 minutes after she was born. We named our darling baby kaelyn lanae. We are so over joyed at her arrival and sister kaydence is doing amazing with her. josh, myself and kaelyn stayed in the hospital till nov 27th. My grandparents: joy and rick visited the night she was born as well as bethie and bob. My family even bought us thanksgiving dinner and josh dad and siblings came up as well on thanksgiving and brought us some food and met the kaelyn. Kaydence had fun staying with my mom. We stayed an extra day because they were worried about my hematoma bursting. my hematocrite levels were low as they said I had lost a bit more blood the they would have liked. Kaelyn passed her hearing test and has been a good eater and sleeper so far and she is very alert. She passed her meconium within the 1st night. The 1st day she was down to 9lbs which 5% loss and the 2nd day she was 8lbs 14ozs which was a 6% loss which was good. I`m doing well, its really hard to walk. I`m icing all the time and taking percocet and ibpriofin for pain and inflammation. the first night home she didnt sleep well and didnt want to be in her own bed. I sure hope my milk comes in soon and that kaelyn gets her days and nights figured out. Kaelyn sleeps alot during the day and doesnt eat often except at night.Kaelyn has a lactation and well check up on monday nov 30th and this is also when dr. keys said they would check my hematoma.

today nov 28th kaelyn was sleeping on the couch and kaydence had to sit next to her. kaydence just sat there eating her orange and rubbing kaelyn`s head. we have been evry impressed with kaydence being such a great big sister. she loves to rub kaelyn`s head and giver her kisses. we are so over joyed by our newest addition and the expansion of our family. today my hormones have been causing me to cry for no reason or I just think about how much I love my girls that I just cry. josh has been great with being understanding. We were so surprised by how fast this birth came on and i couldnt have done it without my amazing supporter josh and the nurses and dr. russell were great as well.
