Well it starts out like this...I went to my perinatologist appt on friday 7/11 for chronic low amniotic fluid. Well my fluid was under 5 so the doc decided I needed to have this baby now. I am admitted to the hospital that afternoon and my induction begins at 5pm. I was given cervidil to soften my cervix.I wasnt even dialated so I knew this would be a long process.So I started getting some contractions. No big deal and that saturday morning the cervidil was removed and they checked me again. Cervix is soft but STILL no dialation. So my doc decided to re-do the medication again. So once again still no dialation. I started having contractions but they werent strong enough to dialate me. So the doc decided that I be started on Pitocin. Pitocin was started on Sat/Sun morning @ 0230. I then started feeling contractions. They were getting stronger by the minute but for some reason the external monitor wasnt picking them up so my nurse put an internal monitor to see just how big my contractions were. My contractions were soo big they were measuring at the top of the graph paper and coming every 2-3 minutes. By this time I was really struggling to keep myself calm because the contrations were soo powerful. It also didnt help that there beds were the most awful things I have ever lied in. Since my contractions were so strong the nurse decided to check me and I was dialated to 1. The exam was soo painful I wanted to just kick my nurse. As soon as she checked me I felt a warm gush of fluid. What do you know my water breaks. So here I am struggling to handle the pain but I just couldnt!! i was sick to me stomach and having back labor which was killer! I asked the nurse if I can have the epidural now and she told me they dont usually give it till I am 3-4cm. I was like OMG That could take forever. i was literally begging my nurse for drugs. By then she checked me and I was just dialated to 2. Well because I was in soo much pain the nurse called my doc and my doc said it was okay for me to have the epidural! I was soo happy to hear that!. By this time my contractions were a minute apart and moreul painful than ever. So here come the anethesiologist to the rescue. You would think right?? Well I dont kow what was worse the contractions or the fact that he kept hitting bone while putting in the epidural. I was in pure agony! Well needless to say he finally got it and my legs started feeling warm and tingly. my bottom and back became so relaxed and I was thinking oh yeah this is going to be good now!WRONG! I was still feeling contractions!! and the anesthesiologist was soo puzzled! So he kept giving me bolus after bolus and all i got was numb legs and a numb backside. It turns out he ended up doing a spinal but some of the medication also was getting in the epidural space. The point is no matter where the medication went, it wasnt going to the place i needed it most lol. So he said he would be back because he had to do another epidural. So there I lay in agony for another hour which seemed like eternity. By the time he comes back and I am breaking down and crying in pain because the contractions are one on top of the other. So I had the nurse turn of the pitocin because I just couldnt take it. So the anesthesiologist comes back and is still puzzled to why I am not recieving pain relief, So he decides to bolus me 2 more times and I am soo frustrated. I figure if the other boluses dont work why will these be any different? Well after a few min I started feeling relief! THANK GOD! So here I am thinking okay I finally get a break! WRONG! Well because the contractions are soo close together and strong it is putting soo much stress on the baby, Her heart starts to drop. So my nurse is repositioning me since all those boluses of medication pretty much made my lower half dead weight. This still isnt working. They start applying oxygen to me saying i need to have extra oxygen for the baby. Well all the repositioning isnt working so they call my doc and she decided i need a c section to get this baby out now! All of a sudden all these nurses come in and start prepping me for a c section. By this time I am crying because I can hear my babys heartbeat dropping. They made my mom and sis leave the room so only my fiance could be there with me. Within a matter of minutes I am being pulled into the Operating room. In less than 10 min my baby girl is born. It was so wonderful to hear her cry and within another 10 min I am laying in recovery. The nurses bring my baby girl in and she is just beautiful and healthy! Despite my tough and unforgetable labor it was worth it to have her in my arms!
