Aisha-Reya`s birthstory
I`d been getting the odd twinge every now and again, so thought nothing of it when I went to bed on the Wednesday night and couldn`t sleep because of what I thought was Braxton-hicks...after all I had exactly 5 weeks to go before little one arrived! :)
At around 2am I woke up with the most awful pain ....a contraction! I just knew it was. my first son was born 6wks+4 premature and it was exactly the same feeling. I woke Marky, my partner, and told him very calmly we needed to go to the hospital because I was in Labour. As all men do he started to panic (BLESS) and went to get my mam (we were living with her near to the birth because the maternity centre was closer to her than to our house, plus my brother lives there and he was nominated for baby-sitting duty for my son)!
When I got to the centre they did the routine examination and was 90% effaced and 4cm, that was just half an hour after my first contraction!!
I had some pain relief as i was getting a huge amount of pain in my lower back and was given an anti-emetic because I was vomiting everywhere! (lovely). The midwife did regular checks and things seemed to have slowed right down...by 5am, not much had changed and I started to fall asleep!
Then it was if the baby had decided enough was enough...she was coming out! By 6:30am i was 7cm dialated and the midwife literally just said `tiny push` so i did and that was it she was here! I couldn`t believe it...she was sooo tiny!
I looked around for Marky and he was leaning on the bed looking very green, so the nurse had to give him some water to stop him fainting lol!
My baby girl was taken straight to SCBU to be monitored and put on O2 to help her breathe. They did some checks and continued to monitor her and we came home with her 5 days later. :))
