Wyatt-James`s birthstory

Well at exactly midnight on September 8 (Sunday) I felt a trickling and then a huge gush of fluid. My water definitely broke. Husband was thrilled because he always wanted me to notify him that way... waking him up in the middle of the night saying my water broke and its time. I wasnt having any contractions but my doctor said to come in right away. I took a shower and brushed my teeth and stuff since everything was already packed from the week before. We got to the hospital (1 hour away) at 2AM. They verified that it was my water and monitored me for a couple of hours to see how the contractions progress. By 5AM I was 1-2cm dialated and still wasnt having regular contractions so they started me on Pitocin. I wanted the epidural but they said I had to wait. The contractions came fast and hard and I didnt even get the epidural until 10:30! That part sucked. You really cant describe contractions until you actually have them. At 11:50 I was only dialated to 4 but the epidural was wearing off already (I`m not convinced it worked at all) so they checked me again at 12:15 and I was fully dialated and ready to push. After an hour of pushing I was utterly exhausted and in loads of pain! I just couldnt do it anymore and the baby wasnt even descending. What happened was apparantly my contractions were never strong enough and with dialating so quickly the baby just hadnt descended enough. Plus they found out he was `sunnyside up` so that was making it harder for him to descend. So they decided on c-section before the baby went into distress. They tried to up the epidural for the c-section but I was in a lot of pain and even felt the scalpel for the cut so they put me under instead. At that point I was so exhausted and so out of it I really didnt grasp what was going on. Next thing I knew I was waking up 2 1/2 hours after the birth (I had trouble coming out of the anastesia). Thankfully though my husband thought to take video of his first cry and his weighing and everything. I missed the whole thing! I am now in the hospital and recovering. He is soooo adorable weighing in at 8lbs 2oz 22 inches long. He was born at 37 weeks 2 days. Imagine if he had went the whole time!
