Mitchell`s birthstory

Night before my water broke some contractions started, had pink/bloody show at 3 a.m.

At 1pm January 29th after I finished eating my late breakfast, and clearing up, I sat up on the couch and felt a small trickle. I was confused if it was my water breaking, so I went to the bathroom, and whenever i sat up the trickle came back. I called healthlink and confirmed it was water breaking and contractions started.

Called Dad and he came home from work to take me to the hospital. got admitted, and walked alot. Could not dilate cervix on own. January 30th, got started on the drip @ 3pm. Heavy labour started at 5:00 p.m. Things picked up fast, and delivered Mitchell @ 9:54 p.m. with Dad and Grandma Karen by my side.

Cara-Kristina`s birthstory

On Saturday the 6th, my water broke at 8:20p.m. As we weren`t packed just yet, and we had to get our 2 year old son ready to go to his auntie`s, we didn`t make it to the hospital until 10:30p.m. I was put right into a labour room, and once examined we find out I`m 5cm dilated! I had so many false alarms that I couldn`t believe it!

My contractions were getting more regular but I was able to hold off on epidural, and only took one shot of morphine at 1:30a.m. The shower and exercise ball were my best friend while in labor.

I had loads of support with me. My husband, Mom, two sisters and cousin were allowed in the delivery room.

I stayed on the birthing ball on advise of the nurses because my baby`s head was not completely in my pelvis. After lots of rotating and bouncing on the ball I dilated to 7-8 cm.

I moved onto the bed and was checked, and baby was facing forward, when she should have been facing backward. I moved up on all fours and continued labouring and she eventually rolled around to where she was supposed to be, and I was allowed to push.

After 57 min of pushing, Little Cara Kristina came into our world at 9:10a.m. with the people we love cheering for her arrival.

Delivery of placenta went smoothly, and I didn`t tear/rip.
