Ava-Michele`s birthstory
I woke up Monday, July 14 feeling like I got hit by a bus. I had been up most the night with some cramping, ended up crawling into bed at 5:55 and getting up at 9:50am. At that point I was shakey and headachey so I decided to have some toast so that I could have some Tylenol. That quickly made itself known as a bad idea so I called the hospital. Somehow I knew I was having a blood pressure issue, so they told me to come in.
When I got to the hospital they hooked me up, saw my itty bitty contractions (at this point I wasn`t actually feeling any for the first time all weekend!) and baby`s heart rate was perfectly fine. It was the fact that I threw up every time I took a sip of water that concerned my doctor, so they put me on a Gravol drip and sent me for an ultrasound and some bloodwork. My doctor told me to sit tight and try to get some rest and she would come back to the hospital to check on me in a few hours.
6pm rolls around my doctor comes back. Her next words sent chills of excitement up my spine. `Well the baby`s weight is good, and your blood and urine tests are showing proteins. You are on the verge of developing pre-eclempsia. The baby is perfectly fine and you`re already so very sick that I just don`t think there`s any need for you to be pregnant any longer`. After spending a day throwin up and feeling lightheaded and dizzy and with a migraine to beat the band, those words lit my face like a candle and I immediately started calling my family to tell them the good news: baby will be here soon!
6:30pm the doctor broke my water and started the oxytocin drip. She immediately ordered an epidural - didn`t ask or anything. My GOD I`m glad she did. I contracted mildly up unti about 8pm, when I was 2cm dilated. She cranked the oxytocin and immediately my contractions started coming right on top of each other. I wasn`t feeling the contracting itself but the baby was RIGHT on top of my cervix so every time I contracted I felt the pressure of her trying to shove herself out. By 10pm I was 4cm. Doctor cranked the oxytocin a little more, as well as the epidural level. By 11pm I wanted to push. 8 cm and progressing quick! Half an hour later I was fully dilated and at 12:37am on Tuesday, July 15, Little Miss Ava Michele was born :)
