Esmerelda-Life`s birthstory

Seemed to take forever!! My waters broke at 13.30 on Tuesday afternoon. I made all the calls and waited for things to start. midnight i was still waiting. about 1am-ish, i started getting contractions. They were mild but getting stronger quite quickl i called the hospital again and they finally agreed to come out and see me (I was booked for a home birth). I was in pain by the time they arrived but not dilated much - about an hour after they arrived i asked how soon i could have some pain relief. the gas and air that was brought was a tad useless as they didn;t have the valve. the second mw was due to arrive once i was established - she eventually turned up at five and I was in the bath. she gave me the entonox which i gratefull accepted. i was in so much pain by this point and it felt worse cos i was so tired. I spent the rest of my labour on the bed. I started to get the urge to push and was told to wait. i couldn`t help myself but i managed to hold off pushing too hard until i was thinking - right this is it. I screamed that i really needed to push now. they told me i could and few seconds later, the head was out. next contracton, the shoulders and my beautiful baby girl started to cry. I was so relived and completely exhilarated. she was finally here. My partner cut the cord and held back his tears as we admired our new bundle of joy. The big sisters came to say hello just before they left for school. they were ecstatic! I got up for a shower after an hour or so and was amazed as how good i felt. i had a second degree tear but i asked for it to be left/ as it was quite a clean tear, they agreed t leave it and i feel so much better for it! :)
