I had bad cramps and on and off contractions for the last couple of days, I had a lot of discomfort saturday night, woke up with pains in my belly. On sunday around 2 pm I started bleeding, but it was really heavy, the bathroom was a bloody hell. I did not notice that I lost my mucous plug in those last days and so it was really scary. I expected some bloody show, but not chunks of blood, that I could not even flush down the tub drain. So we called the hospital and drove there to have myself and the baby checked out. I took the bag with me also.
The whole way I was so afraid something happened to the baby, maybe something with placenta.
When we got there, they hooked me up to the monitors, baby was doing fine, heartbeat ok, and I was having irregular contractions.Than the doctor did an internal exam, and after I was hurting like hell with strong contractions, I think he did a membrane sweep and did not tell me! I was 90% effaced and 2 cm dilated. So they said they will watch me.We were not sure how long we will be staying and my husband did not have anything for himself, no extra clothes, I was hoping to go home to prepare myself better for the delivery.
My contractions got stronger and I went to 4 cm, so they admitted me.I was contracting all night long, they kept checking on , but the progress was slow . Needless to say it was a sleepless night for both of was with all the moaning. On monday I got another internal and the doctor just told me , that my progress is slow,I was 100%effaced,5 cm dilated, so he will brake thebag of water , I really did not want any interventions, I wanted mother nature to take it's own course, but the doctor just did it, that was maybe 10 am on Monday,.
Then I got really strong contractions and by the afternoon I really did not want to deal with the pain, so I got epidural, but I was already 8-9 cm and was told it might not relieve the pain. It stopped all the pain, but also the contractions. I started pushing soon after, because i was 10 cm dilated, but the contractions were very irregular.. So after 2 -3 hrs of no pain, they stopped the epidural and gave me pitocin. Then I got really strong contractions, it was painful. The epidural wore off quick and I felt more than I wanted to.I pushed for over 2 hrs, I was in so much pain, she was not coming out, I thought I will not be able to deliver her, but they kept telling me, that the head is right there. Then they did the episiotomy, which I told them not to, because I wanted rather to tear naturally, but the doctor did not care and did it.
When she came out, she was posterior (sunny side up), hear head was molded on her forehead and back of her head and she was so tiny, crying a little.I was so relieved she was out and ok and that it was she. We did not know the sex, but wanted a girl so badly. My husband was there with her as they cleaned her, while they were pressing my belly to deliver the placenta. I don't know why the doc and nurses have to rush everything, why they could not give me a little more time to deliver the placenta instead of squeezingit out of me. Then I got all stitched up, I tore although I had the episiotomy, it took forever to saw me back up and it was so uncomfortable. I got shivers all over my body, I could not stop shaking, I could not even hold me baby girl.
I was so happy it is all over and my husband was so thrilled he got his little princess.Later we were sent to the recovery room. She is so sweet and beautiful and perfect and we are so in love with her.
This was one painful experience, but Isabella is all worth it.
