Simeon-Josiah`s birthstory

I actually started having regular contractions at about 7PM on the 13th, but they were about 10 min apart. They got closer and closer together, until we finally decided to go to the hospital. My Doula came and was a BIG help. Because of an accidental discovery that I am a carrier of MRSA, I had to be `isolated` in my room. (I wasn`t allowed to walk around the hospital.) I belong to a group of midwives, and of course, that sucky one was the one I got. She didn`t believe what I was telling her. Every time I had a contraction, the he dropped, but then he would go back up again. She didn`t believe me. I was also really mad at her AND the nurse. They made me do my intermittent monitoring in bed and when I was lying down, the contractions basically stopped, and they were only measuring me at 6 cm dialated. Eventually, I was just so exhausted, that they discussed pitocin, putting me in theraputic sleep, or discharging me. Finally the midwife checked me one more time and discovered that I was actually fully dialated if she lightly stretched me. She then decided to check me during a contraction and discovered that I was telling the truth. ~sigh~ That is when breaking my water became an option. I let them break my water, and it ended up being only a partial break. I did speed things up a tiny bit.
Labor was very hard, but worth it. The irony is that I went through natural childbirth partially to avoid an epidural, and I ended up having to get a spinal block for a DNC. (longer story) Such is life. It`s all worth it because I have my beautiful baby boy.
