Campbell-Steele`s birthstory

I was admitted into hospital on the monday night for inducement and after 3 failed attempts at using the Prostin gel to soften my cervix I was finally cleared for membrane rupture on the wednesday morning, I swear the prostin gel cramps are worse than labour pains.
My membranes were ruptured at 6.30 on wednesday and I went straight into labour, it was so quick. I had to have 2 canulars inserted into each arm and was on fetal monitoring which made movement virtually impossible, but I managed to get onto a gym ball and bounce up and down, lol. I used the happy gas, which unfortunately didnt do too much and also had pethidine. At about 11 am they noticed that bub`s heartbeat was dropping I told the midwife that I wanted to push. She said that his head was still fairly far back and that it wasnt time just yet. They decided to take a blood sample from bubs head, NOT a good experience, I`ve never been so uncomfortable in my life. unfortuantely they couldnt get at him very well, since he was so far back. As I was laying there I had this HUGE urge to push, my head was below my body and I managed to push, they doctor turned back to me and saw that the head had crowned. Thankfully.
2 minutes later he was out.
I said to the midwife `I told you I had to push`, she just laughed. Bub and I were let out a couple of days later after he went through numerous heel pricks to test for blood sugar levels, poor tyke. as well as being tested for jaundice, thankfully he wasnt bad enough to need light therapy.
