Lauryn`s birthstory

I was induced. I arrived at the hospital at 6:00 a.m. on 11/21/2008. The nurses checked me when I arrived and I was still 3 cm dilated and about 75% effaced. The nurse began the pitocin somewhere around 7:00ish a.m. At 10:08 a.m. my water broke on its own and I could feel my contractions starting to come more regular and a little more intense so I went ahead and requested an epidural. My Dr. came over during noon time and checked me at 12:20 p.m. and said I was 7-8cm dilated and she would call in an hour to see where I was. My epidural was doing some weird stuff and I had one spot on my right side that would not numb but my entire stomach was starting to not be numb and I could feel the contractions pretty strong in my stomach. I asked my husband to go get the nurse because I was feeling the contractions and wanted to get that fixed before I dilated any further, but that I was also feeling a lot of pressure. The nurse came in and I told her I was feeling pressure but that it was probably nothing since the Dr. had just checked me about 10-15 minutes ago. The nurse checked me anyway and her eyes got real big and she said `no, your ready, the baby is right there, let me get your doctor.` The dr. came back in and told me I had gotten busy and our baby was born in 2 1/2 pushes. She was born at 12:50 p.m. She has been a really good baby and it has been interesting so far at home with three.

Garrett`s birthstory

We arrived at the hospital at 7 a.m. to begin the induction. They checked me and I was 3 cm and 70 % effaced. They began pitocin and would have the dr. break my water around noon since I was group B positive and they would have been giving me antibiotics for four hours at that point. The dr. arrived at 12:15 to break my water and I was still at 3 cm. Once the dr. broke my water I went from a 3 to a 7 pretty fast. As this is our fourth, I expected to progress a little faster like I had previously. However, making it from a 7 to a 10 was a little longer than expected. I had gotten my epidural and towards the end I could really start to feel the contractions, the epidural had started to wear off. I was telling them I was really feeling the contractions and could tell that pushing was going to make me feel better. The nurse left the room to get the dr. and I heard her tell him that everytime I had a contraction the baby`s heartrate was dropping into the 70`s. That really scared me, but the dr. came in and said he was right there. I pushed quite a bit more with him but he finally arrived and was completely healthy.
