I had to be at the hospital at midnight to be induced. When they hooked me up to all the monitors, I was already having contractions and just didn't realize that was what I had been feeling for a couple of days. They started my pitocin drip and things really got going. I felt all my contractions in my lower back and nothing in my stomach or front the entire time. By 8 am I was miserable and asked for my epidural. Wow! What a difference that made. Unfortunately, dilating was going sooo slow. I was at a 1-2 for what seemed like all day. Finally by the afternoon things started to really progress. I was checked at one point and was told i was 5-6, about 30 min later I progressed to a 7-8. The nurse told me she would be back in about an hour to check me again. She stepped out and all of a sudden I started getting really sick. Could not quit vomitting, which was strange to do with about 10 family members just watching me. They got the nurse and she told us that was a sign that I was probably really close. So she checked me again and I was at a 9, she got the Dr. They checked the monitors. He had her clear the room and told her to have me start pushing. After about an hour of pushing, his head was completely down and I was ready. The Dr came in and about 3 pushes later Hudson was here. It was so scary. He didn't start crying and was REALLY blue. His cord was wrapped around his neck 3 times. The Dr. said he hadn't seen that in years. When he got it unwrapped, they immediately took him across the room and started suctioning him out, he finally let out a big beautiful cry. I barely tore at all and was up and walking within an hour. I expected to feel so much worse, but have felt pretty good since having him.
