Langston`s birthstory
It started off on Saturday, October 3 when my Braxton Hicks turned into Real Contractions. This particular contraction woke me up out of sleep and shocked me. I had lost part of my mucus plug earlier that day. My contractions were coming 3 an hr and were knocking the breath out of me but I did nothing because I heard that unless it was more than 4 an hour not to call or worry about it. All night Saturday night, I had BH contractions from hell!!!
We woke up on Sunday afternoon, October 4, spent from the night before due to the contractions. My family (Mom, Dad, and sisters) came over and helped wash the new clothes we got from the baby showers and ate Sunday Night dinner (which was the norm). I told my mother about the contractions and she called my aunt (who i a nurse) who mentioned the contractions possibly putting stress on my baby and for me to call the Dr. I called and the doctor mentioned that I may want to go get checked so my husband made an executive decision and we put the bag in the car and we drove to the hospital. The whole time, I am thinking, everybody needs to calm down b/c they are going to send us home and say we were in false labor. We get to the hospital and they put me on a monitor and they check my cervix, which was at 1.5 and it had been the last 2 weeks. They noticed that I was having contractions and everytime I had a contraction, my baby`s heartrate would drop. The nurses called my doctor and she decided to start induction.
They admitted me and placed Cervadil in my cervix to soften my cervix. Cervadil is strip that ends up inflating like a tampon and it by itself wasn`t that bad but the nurse who put in my cervix had to have had the BIGGEST fingers ever!!!
So they monitor me throughout the night and notice that I am not progressing and my baby`s heartrate is still dipping everytime I have a contraction so they start Pitocin and she breaks my water and places a fetal monitor on my baby`s head (which hurt like hell!!!) My contractions started to progress from 2 minutes apart to 45 seconds apart!!! They weren`t THAT much worse than my mentsrual cramps which used to be a beast to handle but I was so used to them, I just breathed through them (LAMAZE DOES WORK!!!!)Then they ask me if I wanted an epidural and that was the BEST thing ever made!!! The epidural was scarier because of the LOOK of the needle but didn`t hurt at all....
The Pitocin given made my baby`s heartrate dip way too low and they made the decision to do a c-section. They took me back at 12:30 and I delivered my baby boy at 1:11 PM on October 5, 2009!!! He was perfectly healthy and vibrant. I am not a crier (sp???) but the minute I saw him and heard him cry I was a wreck. I instantly fell in love with him.
All is well with him but I contracted a blood infection from the operation and am having to deal with that. I delivered on October 5 and ended up not going home until October 12 due to the blood infection. I have daily injections 2X a day of 3 antibiotics to get rid of the infection. Please pray for me and my family...
Oh by the way, my miracle baby is the most beautiful baby boy !!! Thank you ,Jesus!
