Aiden-Matthew`s birthstory
I had had two days of contractions coming 10 minutes apart. They did not go away for anything. It was labor, but the contractions weren`t strong enough and/or close enough together to make changes to my cervix. I almost didn`t go to my doctors appointment on Thursday because I just knew he was going to tell me that I was `about the same`. He had mentioned that Monday that he would consider inducing me over the coming weekend with Cervidil and Pitocin. Anyway, went in, he said `what time is good for you? 12.....2....how about 4`. I laughed and said today? So I chose 4. I went in, they put the cervidil in. It did its job overnight. They started the pitocin around 9 am ....... and ofcourse it takes a little while for them to have it increased enough to `create` an active labor. At about 10:30 the contractions were getting worse. Nurse checked me, still about 2 cms. I couldn`t believe it! So I walked around a little. Within minutes they became so bad that I requested an epidural. This was only 11 am. She checked me and said I was a 4 - squishy 5.........anesthesiologist came in, by the time he got everything in and done..........I layed down, and nurse checked me.........I got my legs up and she said `and there goes her water` .................... according to my friend Jamie, they could see the head. The nurse said `I`ll go put the call in to the doctor and get some stuff` I kind of remember her running around like a mad woman to get everything ready. The epidural had only worked on my left side. So I felt EVERYTHING on my right. So bizarre!!!!!!! I FELT HIM COMING DOWN THE BIRTH CANAL and let me tell you, he was helping! The nurse said after me telling her that I pushed for 2 hours with my first...........`give me one push just to see where we`re at` I gave one push.......and she told me to stop and to sh shshs shsh breath until the doctor got there. Let me tell you, it hurts a HELL of a LOT worse to hold a child in for 10 minutes than it does pushing them out for 2 hours. Aiden was fighting me and pushing himself. But apparently, he was beginning to rip me and the doctor must have noticed it the second he `slid` in to the room. I remember him literately running to the bed. He cut me, told me to push and Aiden was there! Not even 3 pushes! Next thing I knew they told me to reach down and grab him. So I held on to him while he screamed his lungs out ( which he was doing as soon as his head was out....lol) Part of the reason we had originally discussed induction weeks prior was because of his size and my first son`s size at birth. My first son injured my pelvic joint and broke my tailbone. It took months to heal and wanted to avoid that. So he was a little smaller than my first, but their heads were almost the saem size.
He is gorgeous and perfect. Although he likes to up at night. lol, but we`ll work on that soon enough. We are going to bed now to try and sleep. I haven`t really slept in days.
