Jeremiah-`s birthstory
Okay here is Jeremiah`s story!
I woke up at 3am on Saturday morning having contractions. They weren`t really painful but enough to let me know that they are real contractions and not the fake ones I was having all day on Friday. They were pretty regular too, about 5-6 mins apart. So I stayed up and had some breakfast because I was starving and started timing them. After about an hour they started getting 10 mins apart so I just stopped timing them and fell back asleep till about 6:30am. I was having them while I was sleeping too.
I woke up and the contractions had pretty much were coming every 30 mins but they still hurt so I knew something was up. I got ready and told my husband to get ready too just in case. My nephew had a soccer game that morning at 9:30 that we originally were not going to go to but since I was contracting I wanted to get out and walk so we went. At the park I was having contractions like crazy. We were only there for 30 mins and they were coming like every 5 mins. They were still not that painful yet but pretty regular.
When we were done there we decided to make my husbands Father`s Day dinner a Father`s Day lunch at Red Lobster in case we didn`t make it to dinner. I was contracting the whole time I was eating. That was fun, not! I also kept thinking to myself `why am I eating?!!?! I want to empty my stomach if I`m going into labor, not filling it!` haha (I didn`t want to poop the table) but I was so hungry! After we ate I went to the store to pick up stuff I knew I needed like breast pads and sanitary napkins for after labor and I kept contracting the whole time their. I wanted to go to the mall to keep walking but my 2 year old fell asleep so we decided to go home. By this time it was about 1 and my contractions slowed again once we got home to about 1 every 30 mins. I was getting frustrated because I needed to walk but it was 100 degrees (literaly) outside and my son was sleeping so we couldn`t go anywhere.
So about 2pm I starting walking back and forth from the front door to the back door in our house. This got the contractions going about every 5-10 mins getting a little more intense but as soon as I would sit down they would go away so I had to keep walking. My hips hurt soooooooo bad too!
FINALLY at 5:18pm I had a contraction that hurt so bad I couldn`t walk or talk through it. I knew it was the one. From that point on they were every 5-6 mins whether I sat or stood. I didn`t want to go to the hosp until my water broke but after an hour of the regular contractions I thought it was a good idea to leave since we live about 30 mins from the hosp with no traffic. It was the saddest thing to leave my 2 year old. He started crying because he didn`t want me to leave and of course that broke my heart because this was the last time it was just us. I just broke down crying and we were both crying and hugging. It was so emotional for me...
So off to the hospital we went, it was about 6:20pm when we left and we got to the hospital at 7pm. They put me in triage to moniter my contractions and check me. I was only 3cm and 70% effaced but they decided to admit me anyways since my contractions were regular. So we went upstairs and they hooked me up to the IV and ordered an epidural for me. First though they had to get labs done because they needed my platlet count before they could give me the epidural. It seriously took forever for the labs to come back! The contractions were getting really painful. Finally the labs get back and they paged the anesthesiologist and what do you know, he is busy so I had to wait longer for him to get done giving someone else their epidural lol...while I was waiting for this epidural is when the contractions became really unbearable. I couldn`t breath or move and I was so close to tears and throwing up...I have a REALLY high pain tolerance and for me to cry from pain is saying alot! The contractions were coming about 1-2 mins apart and it was awful!!! Finally the anesthesiologist was free and gave me the epi. I kept having contractions while he was putting it in it was so scary! By this time it was about 9-9:30 so it was only 2 1/2 hours after I got to the hospital. Which really isn`t that bad but since I was in so much pain it seemed like it took alot longer. Now through this whole time after getting admitted nobody ever checked me...just when I was in triage.
Anyway so my doctor came in to check me after the epidural kicked in and was going to break my water since it still hadn`t broken yet. This was about 10pm. She checks me and I`m already 10 centimeters!!! No wonder I was in so much freakin pain!!! haha...I can`t believe that it took me 2 1/2-3 hours to dilate from 3-10 and I didn`t even have the epidural for it! So I pretty much labored by myself and then had a painfree delivery.
So the doc broke my water then let me wait it out for about an hour so the baby can drop on his own so I didn`t have to push for very long and minimize the risk of me tearing. Finally it was time for me to push and he came out with 3 pushes at 11:20pm and best of all NO TEARING or pooping on the table!!! WOOHOO! That is my baby`s story!
