Jackson-Alexander-Cargo`s birthstory
So I went into labor and delivery on Wednesday morning at 7 am, because I was having some heavy bleeding and Jack was not moving around too much. So we got checked in to triage and they checked my cervix, and said I had broke my water. So they go me checked into my room about 8:30. I wasn`t really in labor yet so they placed my epidural (without drugs), and then started a very low dose of pitocin. They around 10 am they checked me again and said I was dilated to 4cm, 80 % effaced, and baby was -2. She also found a `fore bag` of water, so she broke that and said that would defiantly help speed things along. Well they checked again about 3 hours later, and I had not progressed, and they was another `fore bag` so they broke that one too.
By this time my contractions were strong and hard, and my epidural was working great! If anyone is having doubts about the epidural- I`m telling you it was a life saver for me! My contractions staid strong and consistent, but by 2:45 am I was still only 7 cm, and I had a fever, and the baby was stressed. So they opted to do a C-Section. By that time I just knew he needed to get out. So Jack was born at 3:34 am, he was 7 pounds 12 oz, 21 inches.
After he was born he stopped breathing twice so they sent him up to the NICU to be observed for a while and they discovered his white blood cell count was high, and he needed antibiotics. (I was also put on antibiotics) He is still there and we are waiting on some blood tests to come back to see if his white count is down. If it is he will be with me this afternoon. I have been up to visit him, and breast feed him, and I have been pumping. So I am about to go up and visit him again, I will let you know as I get updated.
