Wesley-Robert-Myers`s birthstory
I started having contractions right around 9:30 Wednesday night, as I was getting ready for work. They were definitely different than the BH I had been having. I headed to work and the contractions continued at about 20 minutes apart, but never got stronger or closer. I didn`t really pay mind to it, and chalked it up to false labor, and finished my shift.
I got home at 6:30 Thursday morning and headed to bed. As soon as I laid down, I got hit with a BIG contraction. Ohhhh lord it hurt. So I wrote down the time and tried to get to sleep. The contractions kept getting stronger and closer and eventually I decided it was time to go to the hospital. We stopped at Burger King first for some breakfast and headed down to the hospital. They got me hooked up to the monitors and checked my cervix. I was 100% effaced and 3 cm dilated. But my contractions were very sporatic and irregular. So I walked around for about an hour and they checked me again, and I was at 4 cm, but still with very irregular contractions. They figured it was because I hadn`t been to bed yet and my body was too tired for labor. So they gave me some morphine and knocked me out.
My contractions woke me up about 4 hours later and they checked my cervix and I was 6 cm. Around 7 or 7:30 pm, they broke my water. When I got to 7 cm, I figured I should go ahead and get the epidural...even though the contractions still weren`t that bad. I`m glad I asked for it when I did, cause it took a little while for him to get there and by the time he was putting it in, the contractions were getting pretty bad. After the epidural was in...I felt nothing at all. It was niiiiiiice. My contractions were right on top of each other, and I felt nothing. I actually fell asleep again for about 2 hours, lol.
I woke up to some SERIOUS pressure in my bottom, and I figured it was time. I called my midwife in and she checked me. Sure enough, I was fully dilated and the baby was ready to go. I spent about 10-15 minutes pushing and out he came! It was amazing, and I was completely overcome with emotion. I was a bawling mess, lol. I tore a little, and had to get 8 stitches, but I didn`t feel any of it. God bless that epidural. Course I`m feeling it now, though...
