Jada-Riana`s birthstory
Well I thought that I would be pregnant forever…I went to L&D Saturday evening because Jada was not moving like she normally does. When I got up there my OB doctor was on call which was cool, because he knows me pretty good. They listened to her heart for 20 minutes and we decided not to check my cervix as I had a scheduled appointment for Monday at 9:30am.
Sunday morning at 11:30 I felt an explosion in my pelvic area. I thought it was gas at first so I got on my hands and knees and began rocking back and forward…that was the only position the relieved my pain. Needless to say I went to L&D at total of 4 times in 24 hours and was finally admitted at 10:30pm Sunday evening. My contractions were nothing like I felt before! I am convinced that everything I was feeling before were Braxton Hicks and I knew real labor when it hit.
When I was admitted I was only 2cm, but the strength of my contractions concerned the L&D staff. By 12:30 I had my epidural and it was great! At 1am my water was broken, which induced me. By 2:30am I was eight and half cm! I thought it was almost over! Ummm No! At 4:30am I was nine and half cm and stayed there till I delivered! The crazy thing is that my body would not dilate to 10cm….At 7am, a new nurse came in and gave me the meds they use to induce in a IV form and it set my bottom and pelvis on fire! On top of all of this the baby’s heart rate kept dropping so I was on oxygen for six hours, and that was very scary!
At 9am, my OB doctor whom I had a 9:30am appointment with came up to L&D from family practice. Dr Kennedy and another OB doctor decided that I was going to push past the half of cm called a lip….OMG!!! I was in so much pain by this time that I was a wreck. For the previous 3 hours I had been pushing through contractions, had been checked almost 20 times by 3 doctors and a few nurses….I mean I was crying and asking for a C-Section! I was like one of the over dramatic women you see in labor on TV! It only took 8 pushes, but it was the worst feeling ever! I was so happy to see my baby come out! I was even more relived that she was not pressing down on my bum and in my pelvis!
Jada Riana was born at 9:48am, 7lbs, 20.5 inches, with a head full of black hair! She is a doll and I am in love with her! My husband will be home in a week or so and I am so happy that we will be meeting him at the airport! I don’t think he could have handled seeing me in that much pain. Jada is doing a great job of breast feeding and is pushing her little head up off my chest!
My son who is eleven years old is so proud of his sister! I truly thank my SIL for being by side for my long labor! She never left my side and coached me in the end! Good luck to everyone and take care!
