Sienna-Taylor`s birthstory

My water broke on Thursday, March 27, 2008. I went to hosipital and I was immediately put on drugs in order to delay labor in order to be given two steroid shots to develop the lungs (since they were only 33.3 wks). Afer almost the entire 48 hours, they were unable to stop my labor. I was at my max pain and the contractions were telling them that delivery was going to happen no matter what. After laboring without pain relief, I was finally given an epidural at 1 cm. Well, I only was given the pain relief for about 30 minutes. They discovered I was 10 cm and plus 2 about 20 minutes after the epidural and I went straigh to the OR ready to push. ....this is when the problems started. I got on the table and I could NOT BREATHE! They had to immediately take me off the epidural. I pushed the first one out in 30 minutes, without a full breath. Then, the second one was done with a breech extraction--um...no epidural--worst thing in I can ever imagine experiencing!!! Anyway, my stats were so low due to the fact that I ended up having pulmanary edema---I had to stay in the ICU myself and I almost had congestive heart failure. This was not exactly what I anticipated for my birth!

Both babies are having no respiratory problems, but they will be in the NICU for about 3 weeks. Their major problem right now is that they are not able to digest food--even breast milk. They are the most precious babies ever and it is so difficult to see them with all the tubes and needles.
