Mariah-Michelle`s birthstory
On Jan. 12, I started having light contractions that didn`t hurt at all but were consistant. I continued to have them all day the next day but they weren`t getting strong. They stayed about 10 min apart the whole day. When my husband got home from work at 5 that evening we did our last bd hoping it would get things going (which it did) my contractions were immediately stronger but bareable and were like 5 min apart. We then went to the mall to walk around and get the labor going. We went around the entire mall like 3 or 4 times until it hard to walk and my back started hurting too bad. At this point my contractions were getting even stronger and were 2 min apart. I then called my dr who told me to go to L&D. I checked in with L&D and was monitored overnight b/c my contractions kept coming but they weren`t progressing anything really. When I arrived at the hospital I was 2 cm and 50% effaced, by 6 am the next morning I was only at 3 cm after having contractions all night long. I thought they were going to send me home. The nurse called my dr who told them to admit me to L&D and give me pitocin and break my water. They moved me from the triage to another room in L&D, then gave me the pitocin at 7am. They then broke my water about an hour or so later. After they broke my water my contractions were so strong and painful I asked for pain meds through my IV. They gave me something called Stadol which made me so loopy and tired and did help with the pain so but not enough. I then just opted for the epidural. Before they gave me the epidural I was at 6cm, by the time they gave me the epidural and it kicked in (which wasn`t long) I was fully dialated. They called my dr to come to the hospital, so we just had to wait for her to get there. The nurse wanted me to do a practice run before the dr got there, but when her and my husband held my legs up and I was about to try a push the nurse said, `Stop, don`t push. The head is right there.` She showed my husband and all you could see was the head full of hair my baby had. I only had to do three sets of pushes and she was out. With the epidural I didn`t feel any pain at all. My dr announced her as, `It`s a Mariah!` lol They let us go home on the 16th. It has been an adjustment with the sleeping and nursing but I have enjoyed every bit of it.
