Shyla's birthstory
Well as you can read from my earlier updates, I had been having contractions since the 19th. Well after I was released from the hospital on the 20th, later that evening I passed my mucus plug. So my wishful thinking had returned that maybe soon something would happen. I took a shower and layed down, and that present time my contractions had slowed down so they were only coming 30 minutes apart. At 11 that night I woke up where my contractions were coming about 15 minutes apart. So finally about 12:20 I called my sister to come and take me to the hospital. As I was preparing myself to leave, my 7 yr old began throwing up all over the place. So here I am in the bathroom having contractions and trying to clean up throw up. So my mom is like I have it, you can go. When I arrived and they checked me, I was at 3, Thank you Jesus was my actual response. LOL So of course they admitted me. And I`m no fool, I asked for an epidural. Not to mention I began to throw up a couple of times afterwards. So around 3 they came in to break my water and my contractions stop coming as often. So around 5 or so they started the Potocin. And we were making slow progress. So around 7 they cranked it up, I was still cool bcuz of the epidural and I was still at 3-4 cm. But shortly afterwards I began to feel pressure in my butt, so I asked them to turn up the epidural. I went back to sleep, but as the contractions started getting closer I could feel that pressure again, so once again I asked them to turn it up. At about 10 I felt like I had to make a bowel movement, so they come in to check me and I`m at 8 cm. No lie I cried like a big baby. No matter how many times you`ve been down this road, it`s not a good feeling. So now I have to remind myself that I`ve been down this road before I can do it again, this helped me thru my breathing thru those contractions bcuz I was really feeling them. It seems as though everyone gets on slow mode when your ready to deliver. So as I await the arrival of my doctor, I`m trying my best not to push. And especially bcuz no one is there to catch her if I do. Finally he arrives and checks me and she is sitting right there. But I had started running a fever and they ordered some antibotics for me an hour prior too, and they still had not arrived. No time for him to change, he slides on that doctors coat and gloves and we wait for that next contraction to push. And guess what it doesnt happen. The nurse turned the Potocin off, and she decided not to move any farther. But the antibotics arrived so they gave that to me thru the IV. So she turns it back on and here came the contraction and she was out on that contraction. Weighing in at 6lbs even 19.25 inches long. We stayed in the hospital for 2 days to make sure everything was ok with us both and now we are home. I could not be more happier, just getting used to the fact that I HAVE A DAUGHTER NOW!!! YAY!!!
