Ethan-Abraham-Mayer`s birthstory

Its complicated!
For weeks now, everyone in the medical field said I was having a big baby, so on Tuesday of this past week (5th) we went to see the Dr, as I was 2 days overdue. Previous to this I had NO DILATION and 25% effacement. Nothing had changed , so he had us arrange a NST test for Thursday 7th to check my womb had the correct enviroment for baby still. As this Dr wasnt my own, my own called me on Wednesday to go for an ultrasound instead, to get a gestimate of babies size, so he could advice us on what to do next.
So on Thursday we went to the U/S with bag in hand etc, ready for something! He measured the baby would be around 8lbs 6 oz, which isnt that huge but also said that the amniotic fluid was very low, so the baby would have to be delivered one way or another, that day!
We were excited, nervous and anxious!
Arrived at Labour and Delivery at around 11am and taken to a room.
Was given Cervidyl at around 1.30pm and that was the 1st 12 hours! Apart from really strong contractions at 12 til 1 am , nothing happened. Nurse removed the Cervidyl and checked. NOTHING happened apart from a little thinning. She let me take a shower and freshen up and inserted the 2nd Cervydil at 2.30am , Which was removed at 3pm the next afternoon. Still, NOTHING HAPPENED!!!!
The Dr came in and said we could try another one but felt it might be in vain. He didnt push us in to a C-Section but said it would be a good move. Also our nurse was an older one and she had said my cervix was the most unfavourable one she had seen in a long time!
By this time I was so fed up and unmotivated, that I chose the option I really didnt want. I am so happy I did though. We had to wait 5 hours as I had eaten lunch and then it all systems go! I was having contractions when I went for the Spinal Block but nothing strong enough to get anything going, though I have to say, they still bloody hurt!
At 8.30pm I was on the operating table, nervous as hell. The Spinal only stang a little bit which surprised me and within minutes I was completely numb. Then my hubby came in , in scrubs, which was super sexy, like someone from Greys Anatomy!
Within 10 minutes our son was born, much to my huge surprise!
I was convinced he was a girl! I cried alot and my hubby was fasinated by the size of his balls!!!!! He was an amazing birth partner and I know he wanted to cry but held it together to look after me!
Recovery was a bit painful, but the nurses gave me excellent care and I finally got to hold my son for a good while.
Alex was so proud of our son and went to phone the families.
I breast fed that night, although I dont really remember much.
Everything is getting better day by day and I am feeling more coinfident as a mum, which helps me forget the pain of my tummy. We hope to go home in 2 days time but I will truly miss the excellent care of the nurses and Drs at the hospital!
Good luck to you all xoxoxoxoxo
