Anakkin-Thomas`s birthstory

It was around 3 am that I started feeling an unusual pressure in my hips..like my hips were aching or something...I slept through it until the morning when it got so uncomfortable that I decided to take some tylenol and lay back down....a little later my boyfriend and I decided to have some morning nookie and when we were cleaning up found out that I was bleeding heavily. The pain got more intense from there but nothing I could feel that was rhythmic like contractions. My boyfriend was freaking out because of the blood and suggested we go to the hospital to get it checked out. We had just been at the hospital the night before because of some contractions that I thought may be it but it turned out that i was still 2 cm dialated 80 percent effaced like i had been for weeks and the contractions were too irregular so we went home. I walked into the maternity ward not in too much pain...they put me on the monitor and checked me...they said that my contractions were coming 2 to 3 minutes apart and I went from 2 cm to 4 cm overnight which explains the bloody show in the morning. The nurse was awesome and she went ahead and admitted me to labor and delivery to begin my labor. Once i was set up in the room , I was told to walk around, sit in the rocking chair or do whatever I wanted and i would be monitored and checked every hour. This was around 1pm. We had a very boring uneventful time up until around 8:30 pm when the doctor finally came in and said that my contractions were coming every 2 to 3 minutes as they had been all day...but they are not hurting me enough and my water hadn`t broken and he didn`t see anything wrong with the baby so he didn`t see any reason to induce me. He gave me the choice to either walk around for a couple more hours and see if anything happens or to go home and get comfy until my active labor started. I figured after being stuck in the hospital all day and starving that i would rather go home and eat a good meal and take a shower and get some sleep and see what happens...the doctor told me not to come back in until my water broke or my contractions got more painful. He said it could take an hour or a few days. When they unhooked me off the IV of fluid and i got undressed we walked out to the car. I was very relieved to be able to eat and take a shower. On the way home I started to feel this very sharp intensified rhythmic pain occuring in my low abdomen. By the time we reached home I was pounding my feet on the car floor whenever i felt them to deal with the pain. When we got inside i neither felt like eating or taking a shower as the contractions were coming so close together and hurt so bad during each one. I called my mom to see what I should do in tears. I didn`t know wether to go back to the hospital or try to sleep through them until my water broke. I felt kind of stupid since i had just left. I ended up laying on the bed crying in pain with my boyfriend rubbing my back and knew that i couldn`t go through this all night. I finally gave in and said take me to the hospital. On the way back to the hospital I felt a wet warm gush of fluid and wondered if i had broken my water. The fluid just kept leaking out and soaked my pants and the car seat. The contractions had my in paralyzing pain by then and it felt like there was no time to rest in between them. When I got back to the hospital I leaked all the way walking into my room crying in pain this time and they determined that it was my amniotic fluid leaking and admitted me again to Labor and Delivery. This time i got a nicer room that was twice as big. I asked for the epidural as soon as i could have it, It felt like forever in excruciating pain but finally got my epidural. They checked me and I was dialated to a 5 and almost totally effaced with baby`s head in +1 station. I lay in bed totally enamored with my eipidural and tried sleeping but i was so anxious and scared it was really hard to shut my eyes. Finally 5 hours went by and it was about 4:30am and the nurse came in and gave me pitocin to speed up the progress of the contractions. After that I fell asleep. It was the best sleep I have ever had. I awoke to the nurse tapping me saying that she had to check me again. She looked up at me and asked what i was before and I said 5 cm. She said well how does 9 cm sound? I instantly got a chill and a thrill of excitement. I knew this baby was coming soon. I went from 5 cm to 9 cm in a few hours with no pain. I love my anesthesiologist!!! The nurse said she would come back in an hour and check me again. She said if I feel the need to push then call her with the call button. About 20 minutes later, I felt like I had to use the bathroom really bad...and it just got worse from there..Soon with every contraction I felt like i couldn`t stop myself from starting to push. The nurse came back in and checked me and said that i was a 10 and she would get everything set up for the doctor. 10 mintues went by and by that time i was moaning trying not to let myself push with the pressure. The nurse came back in and said to do some practice pushes. I did 3 rounds and she said that it was time to start pushing for real. She said that i did such a good job that she could see the baby`s head with my pushes and i had just started. I did about 30 more minutes of pushing and felt a very weird pressure down there. It actually felt really good to push. Finally my boyfriend told me that the head was right there and he got to see the litte hair of the baby on the top of the head! Before I knew it (and by this time i was totally exhausted - pushing is the hardest part of labor)
the doctor was standing down there and telling me to push and was deciding on an episiotomy. By this time the pressure of the baby`s head was so intense that I was actually kind of screaming when i pushed because it felt like my vagina was going to explode....I pushed about 3 more times and the doctor said once more and she promised that the baby`s head would be out. I pushed with everything I had and I felt the worst pressure of the baby`s head and then relief when i stopped at the neck. The doctor said 1 more big push to get the shoulders out and that was also pretty intense and then all the sudden my beautiful little baby boy was out! He was born at 8:24 in the morning. The nurse held my head up and said look at your little baby boy that you just pushed out and i got to see him for the first time. It was the most amazing experience I have ever had. They layed the baby on my chest and he immediately stopped crying and curled up. Anakkin is my beautiful baby boy and i wouldn`t trade him for the world. Other than the waiting...the 20 hours of labor...the worst part was the 2 hours of horrible contractions i went through and then the pushing. Not near as bad as what i thought, and i didn`t tear at all! I am so happy now with my beautiful baby boy. He is an angel. He rarely cries and has the bluest eyes.
