WOW what a crazy experience! After 2 weeks of taking medicine to keep me from pre-term labor, I stopped taking the medicine at week 36 - only to have the labor never come back!! Isn't that crazy! I kept having super contractions, I could barely walk, my stomach was huge!! BUT, I never dilated past 2 cm!! No progress whatsoever. Stayed around 70% effaced. NO MORE CHANGE! I begged my doctor to do something, induce me or do the C-section early - I couldn't stand it! The only thing they would do for me is a membrane sweep to try to get labor to start on it's own. Well, that was at 37 weeks. I cried at my doctor's appointment because they would not do anything and were going to make me wait until 39 weeks for my scheduled C-section unless I went into labor on my own.(C-section due to bigger baby and chance of his shoulders getting stuck) I survived another week and made it to my next appointment on Monday at 10:30, 38 weeks and 1 day. To my surprise, my blood pressure had jumped up there, I had protein in my urine, and preeclampsia had gotten it's claws into me!! I didn't have a clue. I had a headache over the weekend, but it wasn't severe - it just didn't go away with Tylenol. The swelling was HORRIBLE and I was gaining like 7 lbs every 4 days - but that had been the norm for the last week and a half and my doctor just said it was normal! YEAH RIGHT! Obviously the office ignored the signs of preeclampsia just because they figured I was exaggerating or something! Anyhow, my doctor came it around 10:45 and told me that she didn't want to wait and see what would happen with the preeclampsia - they were going to do the Csection today!!! And I would have my baby around 4 that afternoon. So I went to the hospital, they took me to labor hall, put me on an IV and magnesium sulfate (high BP can cause seizures, magnesium is a preventative measure to stop them). I napped a little, mag does that to you, and at around 2:30 they told me they thought I they could get me in a little sooner. At 2:50 - the 'party' began! The told me they were going to do it now, so people came in and had me drink some nasty sour stuff, they shaved my stomach with the electric razor, they went over the epidural process, etc. Things were in fast forward and people were rushing around everywhere. I was in a fog from the magnesium, so things were just crazy! I remember the anesthiologist had SUPER white teeth! Anyhow, I was in the operating room, and had to sit up on the table to get my spinal block. The nurse to lean on was named Virgaline. (they don't allow your husband or whoever to be there when you get the spinal). Then I remember getting lots of warm blankets on my chest because I was shivering. They did the sponge test thing on my arm and it was super cold, then the ran it down my legs and stomach - I didn't feel a thing. The C-section was so easy! I remember hearing the suction thing and all the gurgling sounds. I remember seeing the goofy scrubs my husband had on, and seeing my doctor in her surgeon gear. I felt the pressure of them pushing on my stomach to get Chathum, but no pain. Seriously, it was just pressure you could feel! It is a weird sensation because you feel your body moving and all of that! So, Chathum arrived at 3:33 pm, I thought the C-section was great, and then I went to recovery! I remember my husband putting Chathum next to my head to kiss him before the took me off the operating table, and me asking how much he weighed and what color his hair was :)

Brynn-Gabriella`s birthstory
Had been having problems with my blood pressure getting high, but would go down at the hospital. I finally gave up checking it and just waited it out until my c-section date. Side note - sciatic nerve pain like 3 days before my c-section! UGH! Still have it!! Okay, back to the story. Chathum stayed with the neighbor while Chat and I went to the hospital for the c-section. A scheduled section is different than one that is unexpected! I started off in recovery. Got IV`s and medication. Sat waiting on the doctor while Chat hung out with me. Got sent back to the OR and it was super cold in there. Had a great anesthsiologist (sp?). Got on the OR table, had some medicine to make me calm and relaxed for the spinal. WHICH HURT! It didn`t hurt the first time! OW! So, Chat came in and it was just the waiting game! I felt myself being moved around like the first time. Chat kind of watched some of it, so that was interesting to hear about what the doctor was doing. I heard them suctioning the water when the broke the bag, LOL. The first thing I heard the doctor was say look at that head! Then, look at those shoulders! She held her up and it was just so sweet. She asked if she looked bigger or smaller, and my husband said bigger - he was right! Brynn Gabriella entered the world at 7:51 am on Wednesday, with a head full of hair and weighing 9lbs even! 5 oz more than Chathum weighed! I ended up getting a shot to slow down my bleeding along with 8 doses of medication for the bleeding, because it was just soo heavy and worried the nurse and my doctor. I also got put on blood pressure medicine because my numbers were going higher and higher, 170s over 100s. We were in the hospital for EIGHT DAYS!!! She got jaundiced on Sunday 1/2 and was under the lights for two days. On her second day, I got diagnosed with post partum preeclampsia, as my blood pressure was still whack and they upped my dose of medication, and also my blood panels with the liver enzymes and such were getting higher instead of lower each day. I got to go home on my birthday, which was also her due date. Overall, there is a lot that I would have liked to go differently, but what can you do? The list of what could have been better is too long - such as the whole preeclampsia thing, jaundice, DH got the flu and has not been able to help at all since Monday, I went a week without my little boy, etc. We are SOOO done having kids! But it was all worth it, we now have our little man and baby girl and our family is complete.
