Kyle-James-Hewitt`s birthstory
I actually went in on Monday night to the hospital so the doctor could put the Cervadil cream on my cervix. When I went to the hospital I was dilated to 1 cm and about 70-80% thinned out. When the doctor came in Tuesday morning, I was dilated to 2 cm and 80-90% thinned out. They started the pitocin around 7am and at 7:30am my doctor broke my water. Things were progressing quite fast, as when I was checked at 11 am-I was already dilated to 6 cm and by 11:50am I was fully dilated and ready to start pushing. The doctor had advised the nurse to turn `off` my epidural so I would know when I was supposed to push. My right leg was extremely limp until they turned it off. I started pushing right away and pushed with every contraction-which was about every minute to minute and a half. Finally after pushing for 3 straight hours, the doctor came in and asked me if I wanted to keep going or if I wanted to have a c-section. I could barely open my eyes-but I told the doctor that I was done. I had given it my best shot and just had no more to give. Within a 1/2 hour, they had my epidural up and running again (Thank God!!!) and I got wheeled into the delivery room and he was born at 3:58pm. Everything went well and even though I had to push for sooooooooo long before finally having the c-section-I would do it again in a heartbeat! I fell in love with my little man as soon as I heard him cry! I also fell in love with my husband all over again. Things have been going pretty good since we have been home. I have been told that I am very lucky as my son only wakes up once during the night to eat! My doctor did tell me that I only have a 30% chance of having a VBAC if I get pregnant again-and the percentage is only that high if the next baby is 6 or 7 lbs. So if we decide to have another baby (which won`t be for a couple of years) I will just schedule the c-section instead of trying to have a vaginal delivery and end up having a c-section anyways!
