Well after 18 days, I might as well add the birth story. I was bound and determined to go into labor, so I thought I would try to"induce" myself by having some really good hard core sex. And if it didn't work, then oh well, I still had some really good hard core sex right....lol! Well shortly after that, I did start to have some contractions, but of course nothing regular. Got up the next morning, took my daughter to summer school at 7:15, came home and went back to bed. Turned the TV back off at 8 and in my sleep, or almost sleep, noticed some contractions starting up. I told my husband as he was walking out the door but didn't worry too much about it. Well by 9:15, thought I should start timing them. I sent my other daughter in the other room to get a pad of paper and a pen. Till about 10:15, the contractions were coming every 5-7 minutes. I called the doc to discuss that and some test results, as at the previous appt I had the strep B test done. Anyway, well the nurse didn't want to risk waiting till contractions were coming closer because this is my 4th baby. She had me come into the office. By the time I got there at 10:45, the doc checked me and of course I wasn't dialted. Go figure, right. He was ready to send me home and I stressed to him that I was in a slight bit of pain and contractions were coming pretty regular since about 8am. He sent me over to maternity observation. By the time I got there and put on the gown, answered the 8,000 questions you have to answer and she finally checked me I was a 2-3. I COULDN'T believe it. They went ahead and kept me there to do the regular 2 hour check. Contractions kept coming at a regular pace, and at the end of 2 hours, I was a strong 3. So guess what, they kept me. I couldn't believe it. I was only 36 weeks 6 days. Thought for sure I would go longer than my due date because all of my sonograms measured me at least a week after my due date. Well by 4pm they broke my water and gave me an epidural. I am not in denial ladies. I know I need pain control, so before it was too bad, I was asking for it. Well after that, things just stopped. Strange for me, as with all of my previous children, after they broke my water, I delivered within 2 hours. So, until 9 freaking o'clock I stayed at a 4. Didn't understand after breaking my water why I wouldn't dialate. Well after much pitocin, I finally started to move. By 10, I was a 6, by 11, I was a 7, by 12 midnight I was a 10. It moved so fast after that. The nurse got into gear getting the tables ready and my bed ready, soaping me up, and everything else she had to do. The doc came in at 12:10 and with the next contraction I pushed. With the 2nd push, the head was out, and the 3rd push, she arrived. 12:16am, she was born. I couldn't believe that after almost 7 1/2 years I was a new mother again.
