Raegan-Nicole-Jackson`s birthstory
Well I had been having slight cramps for the past week or two. Nothing major. You could sleep right through them. I was hoping t hat meant I was close. Since this weekend was a long weekend my DH, my step-daughter, and I were going to each have OUR day where that day we do whatever that person wanted. So yesterday was Taylor`s day. We took her to Maxx Fun (like Chucky Cheese, but with more rides). We stayed there about 2 hours. We had a blast. I was not having any pains or anything at all. So my DH and I played air hockey (I won) and we followed our little goril around riding on all the rides.
Afterwards I wanted to eat som blue crabs and Taylor wanted a pan pizza so we went and got my crabs and then we went to get Taylor`s pizza. When we pulled into the parking lot at Pizza Hut I had my first contraction (7:41pm). I had to actually hold my breath it was so painful. So I told Rod that we had to hurry andget home so i could walk it out. About 7 minutes later I had another and then every 5 minutes after that. After the first few Rod tought I was faking. I thought it was false labor. We got home and they increaded in pain so at around 8:15 i told him to pack his bag and let`s go. He rolled his eyes, but did as I bid. We were in t he car nad I was still contracting. They were then 3 minutes apart. This is when he realized t hat I was not faking. By the time we got to the hospital they were 2 minutes apart s needless to say they rushed me in and got me all set up.
So after they took blood they put some medicine in my IV to take the EDGE off. So it still hurt, but not as bad so I was quite ok. Anything is better than nothing. Then after a few minites I got my EPI. It was painless. He was great and my BEST friend! At first I was still having painful contractions and I would feel them at first, but after the first 10 seconds the EPI took care of it. By then they were a minute apart. So the guy came in, upped the dose, and then I was pain free. Now when i came in I was 3 cm dialated. By midnight (3 hours later) I was 6 cm dilated. The nurse said she leaves at 7am and she thought I would have the baby by then. Then t hey found out it was my first pregnancy. That is the only reason they gave me the epi so quick because they thought labor was quick. Then they said the way I was prograssing was weird, but i would have a quick delivery. My epi got changed out around 2 and I was 8-9cm dilated by then. When they put the new EPI in I started having contractions again, but they said that was just pressure and not t he actual pain. The HELL with that, THAT was pain! The nurse told me that when it was time to push that the pain/pressure would decrease.
So I was in so much pain that they got the midwife for me because my doctor was t aking too long. She came in, they say that ym baby had a BM so they had a team to come in to get t he stuff out when she came out. After t he team came in they had me to push. In the middle of me pushing (5 minutes tops) my doctor arrived and took over. I probably pushed 4 times and my baby was out. Now The pushing did get rid of the pain/pressure for me. The breathing helped me as well. The pushing was really hard work though. Man. That is why they call it labor. Even with pain meds you still feel the pain and you still have to work your butt off.
She was worth the pain. i was wondering how i would be able to get through the next contraction, but my labor was a lot shorter than a lot of labors for first time mothers. It was hard at points, but to go from nowhere at all to contracting fully and in real labor at almost 8 to having my baby at almsot 3 I have to admit I had it easy!

Brandon-Lloyd-Jackson`s birthstory
So I had been having slight contractions here and there for about a week. But they would all go away after a few hours. On Sunday we all (my mother, DH, and two daughters) went to the movies and then to get something to eat. Later that night around 10:30 I noticed contractions. I started timing them and after an hour I noticed they went from 10 minutes apart to 7 minutes apart. Around 11:00pm DH comes to bed and I show him my charted contractions. I let him know that I could barely feel them so he said that we should go to sleep and if they were still going on in the morning that we would keep track of them to see if t hey got closer so we could go to the hospital. He said since I had our previous daughter so quickly (6 hours from first contraction til birth) that we would need to get to the hospital ASAP if we knew it was real labor. Well we talked for about 45 minutes and then he noticed they were getting closer and I looked at the times and they were 5 minutes apart. Since we live a good 30 minutes from the hospital he said we had to go right now. We get to the hospital and they are 4 minutes apart. Still no rel pain. So they get me admitted and I started to fill out the paperwork. Then out of nowhere BAM! They started hurting like the dickens. I mean BAD. So the nurse had DH fill out the paperwork and had another nurse to call the doc to get permission to give me meds while she started my IV. She checked me and i was 5 cm dilated. Well 10 minutes later I have an IV with pain meds which take the edge off for about 20 minutes and then BAM stronger contractions. The guy comes in a few minutes later to do my epi, but I could not get into position for it because it was hurting so bad. I could not understand why I could not sit up like i was supposed to. Rod was supportive and did everything he could to help me. He told me not what I wanted to hear, but what I needed to hear. The truth. That my time was obviously running out naad that I needed to get it before it was too late and i would have to do it all naturally. The nurse was going to check me to see how far I had dilated to see if the pressure is what was causing so much pain. Well I told her no, lets just do it because i KNEW that if she checked me she would say it was too late. SO I sucked it up, got into position, the man came back and i had to hold it still through several strong contractions while he did me up. Well he did it and 15 minutes later I was doing great. I felt my water break right after he did the epi. Felt like a baloon pop and a gush. Then it was time to push. Yes you guessed it. The reason I was having so much pain is because I had already dilated to 10 cm and the baby was on his way down the canal. I was siting there and they could see the baby`s head without me pushing. I could NOT have done that epi without hte support nad love of my DH. I am slo glad he was here. So I push for about 3 times total and the baby was out.
Before I started ushing i heard the nurse tell the doc that the baby passed his first stool. I did not worry because so did my first and all was OK. Well when Brandon came out the doc said he was a little limp. Then the NCIU team got him and I heard them suctioning, whispering, looking sad, and I heard the bag things pumping air into his body. I could not get a good look because they were behind my legs, but I saw enough. I also saw my worried husband and then the nurse came over trying to reassure me. His score was a 3 out of 10. Not good. But then he starte dcrying. A soft cry though and I knew it still was not good (I fould out later from Rod that he was actually beginning to turn blue). Then I heard a strong cry and everyone started looking better. He then got a 7 and 10 minutes later a 10. Since he had issues at first they wanted to keep him for obversations for 6 hours. Not in intensive care, but in special care. A few hours later they called me to say he ws pefectly fine and after the 6 hours was up that he would be sent to my room. Which he was and I was able to feed him. My baby boy is simply beautiful. I am so in love with this little man. I am thanking God right now as I type for this blessing. Now I am laughing because had I let that nurse examine me I would not have been able to get the epi. She later did confirm my suspicions. That I must have been fully dilated to be going through all of that.
