Amelia-Fatima`s birthstory

We had an u/s on 4/9 with the high risk Dr. because our dr. thought he saw a cyst in Nadia`s abdomen and wanted a better scan done. At the u/s they confirmed she did have a cyst, but they thought it might be an ovarian cyst which is not that uncommon and does not need treatment, just watching. The dr. also checked my cervix, which was down to 1 centimeter. That`s when she noticed that Nadia`s cord was at the cervix, along with her feet (we knew they were both breech still). We went back to our dr. a few hours later and they said it`s time to go to the hospital for bedrest (in case I went into labor it was too dangerous with the cord at the cervix) and steroids and to expect the girls probably on Friday (this was Wednesday). They were just 34 weeks. They scheduled the c-section for 8 AM Friday. At about 3 AM on Thursday night I woke up with a lot of pain in my back. I thought it was an upset stomach because they had been monitoring me frequently and I never had a contraction while hooked up. The nurse checked, said I was 2 cm dilated and they moved me over to labor & delivery a little early. I was shaking so badly that I couldn`t get back to sleep! They gave me some terbutaline to hold off contractions until they did the c-section at 8. Both girls came out at 8:33 and were taken straight to the NICU, although they both seemed fine. Nadia was breathing on her own, but working really hard so they put her on oxygen for a day or so. Amelia was just being watched - it`s a conservative hospital and they automatically take all babies born that early to the NICU. The girls spent just over a week in the NICU before coming home. They`ve been home for just over a week now and doing great. They`ve both been gaining - Nadia is now 5.14 and Amelia is now 5.4. They`re both perfectly healthy!!!!!
