I was sleeping on Saturday (4/26/08) I hadn't felt well that night. I told James that I was having contractions, but they weren't getting regular, I noticed my BP was higher, and weird thing.. I was having goosebumps on my legs but my face was steaming hot. So I decided to lay down. About midnight (04/27/08) I woke up with contractions getting worse.. but again, not steady.. coming 4 minutes then 12 minutes then 3 minutes etc. I finally got up to go to the bathroom. WOOSH! I felt a huge gush of liquid. Like I was peeing.. so I waddled to the bathroom as fast as I could since I thought I was peeing my pants!! When I sat down to pee, I had more liquid come out.. It was really cloudy and had chunks (tmi) of mucus in the toilet. So I woke James up and told him that I think my water broke! We go to the hospital. I get gushes the whole time.. by the time I get to the Women's Unit, looks like I peed my pants again. They checked me and I was about 3cm dialated at 115am. So I laid there.. they got the IV in me.. called my doctor. He wanted Pictocin started (ugh not what I WANTED) so they stuck that in me. Contractions were coming about every 4 minutes by that time.. and I was only 3.5 cm dialated. They ordered that I have a internal monitor put in since Madeline was moving around and I was moving around they couldnt get steady reads on her. Which with the internal monitors meant I couldnt get up and walk around, again NOT what I wanted. So I asked for the epidural. I figured since they had me bedridden, I might as well be comfortable. Epidural ( I don't care what ANYONE SAYS) hurt like HELL putting in. Sent a shot of pain down my right side.. but then it was GREAT!! I was having contractions every 2 minutes and didn't feel a thing. :)
Fast forward to 10am I was only dialated to about a 5 :( They said that her head was pushing against my cervix, but it wasnt dialating anymore. My contractions had dropped from HARD every 2 minutes to barely registering contstantly. They ordered a C-section..... I BAWLED. I don't think I have ever cried so hard in my entire life... I had already done 10 hours of labor at that point and now I have to have major surgery. So they prepped me for that. Surgery was the worst thing I think I have ever expirenced. Sorry for any advocates for c sections though.. but it was horrible for me. It wasnt painful during surgery.. but you do feel it being moved and tugged and ugh.. just not what I had envioned my labor would be :(

BUT... it was the best for my child.. so I have to put myself second. Madeline Elizabeth was born at 12:59p. I was sent down to recovery for 2 hours after the surgery.. Then stayed in the hospital for 4 nights. She has been a wonderful baby.. I am hormonal as hell.. haha but all in all I am the happiest mommy around :)
