Leland-Keane`s birthstory

We went to the hospital on 5/23/08 with false labor and went back home. It was painful but subsided the next day. On 5/24/08 went in again. Baby`s heart rate was dipping a little with each contraction so we decided to be induced since I was only dilated to 2 and it was already painful and baby`s HR kept dipping slightly. I got the epidural first and then the pitocin. The epidural worked perfectly and I had literally no pain (I always had pain in lower right hand side, sharp like knife stabbing). Everything went smoothly from there and I didn`t have to push very long. He was born 5/25/08 at 11:55 am. As soon as he came out the doctor said, `Oh my! Look here.` He showed me a perfectly formed knot in his umbilical cord. `I`ve NEVER seen one of these before! This is a true knot.` Apparently that was what was causing his HR to dip during contractions. Later when I talked bo my OB she said she`s delivered several miscarried babies with knots in their cord. This can cause death if it tightens too much . His cord was smaller than the other kids so it had been there a little while. It`s a good thing we induced! He`s perfect! Nursing is going well and he`s adorable!
