TBA`s birthstory

Went for acupuncture @ 1:pm as I was 2 weeks overdue. Waters broke @ 10pm, contractions began @ 12pm hard and fast. Midwife came over and I was 6cm (had been 4 the week prior) I was going to try and give birth at home birth but I needed gas and air to cope with the contractions as they were so intense and close (3 mins apart). By the time I got to the hospital and up to the room I was fully dilated and ready to push, only got to have 4 puffs on the oxygen before it was time to push. Pushed for 30 mins with the squatting bar but then had to lay down as baby`s hand was by his head and had to be unhooked. Had to fight the urge to push for 2 contractions while they unhooked his hand. Felt his head with my hand then was able to push him out. They put him on my chest but he wasn`t breathing yet so they had to revive him using oxygen and had to suction his lungs. Finally heard him cry after what felt like ages...then he cried for 3 hrs as he was traumatized by having to wait through those final contractions and by the speed of it all. Now he`s over the initial upset and is quiet and content. He has spent hours in quiet alert state just looking around and is holding up his head when I burp him so he`s in great shape now. I however have only had 4 hrs of sleep so far since Sat @ 8am so am off to bed!
