Gregory-Benjamin`s birthstory
Went for my 39 wk drs appt., and was told I was 4 cm dilated and 80% effaced, and was having contractions every 4 mins. My dr told me to go to the hospital, and that he would call them and let them know I was on my way over. I got there, they hooked me up, and I was I still contracting but had no change. Well after hrs of walking and rocking, finally at midnight I had progressed to a 5 and got an epidural. The dr checked me again in an hour, and now he had said I was a 4-5! I told him just to break my water, and I will progress, just like my last two labors within the hour. Nope, he wouldn`t, nor would he give me any pitocin to speed it up-he said it wouldn`t do anything for me. As long as the baby was fine, he was just going to let me labor. God I hate this dr! I have only seen him once in my dr`s practice (there are multiple dr`s and midwifes), but I never saw him again because of his personality and cut throat attitude. Finally at 7am, my normal dr comes on, and questions me about how long I have been there, why they haven`t broken my water or given me some pitocin. He and all the nurses kept on stating they didn`t understand why the first doc didn`t and it made no sense. Well my dr tells me that he is going to break my waters, and give me pitocin to speed it up. Finally someone who knows what they are doing! As they are doing the pitocin, and breaking my waters, my epidural runs dry, and I am waiting on the drug doc to come refill my epi pump. Too late! Within the hour I am waiting for him to do the refill, I go from a 5 to 10 and now the pressure is so intense, it fills like my butt hole is going to rip and explode. Sorry for the TMI, but that is the only way I can describe it. The nurse was supposed to come in and check on me, but instead I called her and was like it`s time, or my butt is going to pop! She comes in checks me, and is yep your ready. Well my dr is now in surgery, so the nurse is explaining that she will deliver me! Luckily one of the midwifes from the practice was there on her day off doing a delivery next door, and walked in just in time to deliver me. With a couple of pushes, Gregory was born. The pressure was so bad, I just wanted him out asap, so I pushed through the pain and pressure as fast as I could. I don`t remember the pressure being so bad with my other two sons, and with the first son I did without any pain relief. He was a big boy, and it I did tear in two spots but the relief afterward was great! I never felt better-if only the first dr had done what I told him too, my labor would have only been 4-6 hrs like my previous two instead of the 18 hrs it took.
