Ryleigh-Morgan`s birthstory

Ok so I guess I'll start with Thursday the 12th. My doctor informed me that he wanted me to come back on Tuesday the 17th to have an U/S and to check for progress. If I wasn't soft he wouldn't induce me until week 42 - June 29th. I told him that was unacceptable. There was no way I was going to still be pregnant and it be darn near July. Before I left out of the room he said, "Now are you sure you aren't going to have this baby this weekend?" I replied, "Nope, she's stubborn and I'll see you on Tuesday." He said, "Are you sure?" "Yes," I said. And out the door I went.

Friday morning I woke up about 345am pissed because it was 345am and I had to go to work. I finally got up and went downstairs to watch TV. No point in laying in bed staring at the ceiling fan. After I pleased myself (come on you know what I mean), I forced myself back to sleep @ 8am for about 30 to 40 minutes. I got up and used the bathroom and had a mucusy discharge with a bit of blood in it. I had never seen any discharge like this so I knew something was up. But pretty much disregarded it as whatever, so I went upstairs, showered and got to work @ 10am. At 10:08am I received a "Good Morning" text message from my son. If any of you know the story about my 16 year old you understand why this was unusual. Within 5 minutes of this text message I had my first contraction. At first I thought it was a boo boo cramp. I'd had those before and they felt similar but when I got another one 8 minutes later I knew it was a contraction. As the day progressed I was keeping up with my contractions with the contraction website. All the guys in my office were like, you better not have that baby here. They couldn't believe I was still at work. No reason to sit at home and not get paid, ya feel me.

Now I know some of you had diahrea and vomiting before or during your contractions. I didn't have either but I did go boo boo about 5 or 6 times. It was driving me crazy. Good thing was it helped me work through those contractions. TMI - Oh well. You wanted this story and you are going to get it.

I finally left work at 2pm and low and behold got behind the slowest drivers EVER in life. I'm thinking DAMN people move it I need to get home. By the time I did get home my contractions were 4 minutes apart. I used the bathroom AGAIN and this time had a bloody discharge. I finally decided I should call the doctor. I still had to pick my sister up from the airport @ 315. So the doc calls me back on the way to the airport and says meet him at the hospital. I decided when leaving to pick up my sister that I wouldn't get my bag or the baby's bag for the hospital. I figured after reading about everyone else getting sent home I would too. So I pull up to the airport and as I see my sister I get out of the car - BAM contraction. Anyone who has ever been to Atlanta's airport during the day knows there are a million police up there and people. They were all looking like OH LAWD she's going to birth that baby right here. My sister rubbed my back and helped me breathe through it. Not tensing up is really hard. But when you do breathe through them it makes them less intense. I digress. So we headed to the hospital.

It was 430 and they got me into the triage (sp) room and hooked the monitors up. The doc came in and checked me and I was already dialated to 5cm. He said, "Ok well you'll have this baby by 6:30 or 7." I told him I needed something for the pain because I had realized I was a punk. He laughed and said that I didn't have far to go and he thought I should do it natural. Especially since I had already done most of it that way anyway. But I elected to get an IV. They shot me with demoral. (now I realize I put I delivered with no meds, keep reading and you'll understand why.)

He left back out and I asked the nurse how far apart the contractions were and she said 1min 30sec. It was now about 510 and they were starting to move me from triage to the L&D room. Once I moved from one bed to the other it was 5:20. I had one hard one hit - BAM. My sister helped me breathe through it. The nurse then checked me to see how far I was and I was now 9.5. She started frantically calling my doctor and other nurses and techs to get in there. The lady on the intercom was not helping the situation. She kept asking her what she needed and she kept telling her over and over again to send someone in there and to page my doctor. I acutally found all of this quite amusing between contractions. She was getting upset because they couldn't find my doctor but she never let it show. I could tell it was pissing her off but her voice remained calm and cool. She got on the intercom again and said, "I don't care who you send in here. I need a doctor, more nurses, techs whoever. You just need to get someone in here, this baby is coming!" Then she asked me if my water had broke. I told her no but then maybe 10 seconds later - POP!!! I said uh yeah so my water just broke. Now she was really freaking out but she stayed calm. She knew she would more than likely have to deliver this baby. She did an AMAZING job. I wasn't in the stirrups, the bed wasn't broke down, nothing. This was a raw and uncensored birth. With the next contraction my body automatically started to push. The nurse explained that if I didn't stop pushing I would tear. I informed her I wasn't pushing and apologized profusely. She just said it's ok just try not to push. My body was taking over. The next contraction her head was crowning. Oh feel the burn. LOL that was the part I remembered. The burning sensation as the head is coming out. OH LAWD!!! Next contraction her head was out. I turned to my GF and said, "I need some water, I'm so thirsty. Please get me some water." So she went to the sinke and grabbed a paper towel and wet it. As she was turning around the come back to me the next contraction hit and she, Ryleigh, was laying on the bed. It was 5:29 pm. The doctor came in 1 to 2 minutes later. He said, "What did you do?" Lmao

He was in shock, the nurses were in shock, my sister and my GF were all in shock. I went from 5 to 9.5 in an hour and delivered her that fast. It was wild and crazy. Just how I like my action. LOL But it was only fitting. My mom did the same thing with all 8 of us. I think I was the fastest of all 8. My dad went to park the car and my mom had me in the hallway before he made it back in.

As they wheeled me down the hall to my room for the weekend, the meds finally kicked in. I just laughed and fell asleep after I got in the bed. I was exhausted.

For all of you who are still working, you can do it. I know it's hard to get up in the morning and to work all day but I think it was worth it. It kept me busy and kept me up and moving. I was due June 15th and I had her the 13th. If I can do it, you can do it too.

Much Love and easy Labor dust -

Deb
