Mylie-Jo-Mackie`s birthstory
I had been having mild irregular contractions all day Sunday and didn`t think much of them b/c they didn`t have a pattern and didn`t really hurt and at about 7PM I leaned forward to get off the couch and felt a small trickle of fluid (barely enough to wet my panty liner), I figured it was urine since I had to pee and when I went the the bathroom I saw light pink in my undies and on the tp and figured it was my bloody show so I didn`t pay much attention to it. For the next 2 hours everytime I went to the bathroom I saw the watery light pink and had this constant damp feeling. I called the hospital at 9pm and they told me to come get checked `just in case`. I didn`t really want to go and figured they were just going to send me home but came in just to be safe. Well lo and behold the dr checked me and told me I was @ 3cm 70% -1 and my water was leaking and they were going to induce me that night!!! I had tested + for GBS a month ago so they put me on antibiotics @ 11Pm and said they would start pitocin in a few hours after the meds had a chance to kick in. At about 1Am I woke up in a puddle (my water broke the rest of the way) and @ 2Am started having contractions on my own. They checked my cervix @ 3Am and I was @ 4cm 100% 0. The pain wasn`t too bad the I was contracting every 5 minutes. They started pitocin @ 5am and 20 minutes later I was in the worst pain I have ever felt in my entire life, I seriously thought I was going to die!! they turned the pit off until I got my epidural @ 5:45. My regular dr came in to see me @ 9am and offered to leave the clinic and come back to deliver if needed (it was a MAD HOUSE, there were about 10 other women in active labor and the dr on call was super busy). About 5 minutes later I told the nurse I could feel this weird pain in the middle of my stomach (kind of freaked me out since I couldn`t feel anything from the chest down, it was one damn good epidural!) and when she checked me she was like `umm yeah, thats b/c you need to push!!`. She had me start pushing for about 5 minutes and then made me stop right away, I questioned her about it and she just told me to `look down` - her head was halfway out!!! The dr came in and got everything ready and I pushed a couple more times and she was out!! Despite being small her apgars were great and the only assistance she needed was a few extra minutes under the warmer. After they delivered the placenta I found out the light pink I had seen wasn`t my bloody show, my placenta was prematurely deterirrorating (sp?) and there was blood in my amniotic fluid. She has lost 7oz since I had her but is doing great and breastfeeding like a pro and we both get to go home today!!
