Wyatt was a scheduled c-section, due to my 2 previous surgeries. He was originally due to come on August 8th, 2008... we were excited 8-8-08 was gonna be his birthday. Then on my pre-op appointment, I got the horrible news that the date we were looking forward to the WHOLE time since April we were told this date, was now going to be moved to the 11th. So instead of Friday the 8th, we waited till Monday the 11th; that was THE longest weekend of my life. I was kinda upset too that Wyatt's birthday was to be the 11th since that was also my father's birthday. My father committed suicide in 1999, leaving my mama to take care of 6 kids all under the age of 16 by herself... she hadn't worked in over 16 years! I was devastated that the man I had grown to hate was going to share this great day with my new baby. I try not to think of it that way, but at the time it was enough to drive me nuts. So, Sunday night, Joshua and I dropped Spencer and Scarlett off @ my mama's house to stay until Wyatt came and then we drove home. I finally fell asleep around 4am, had to be @ the hospital for admittance @ 7am and was supposed to be in surgery by 9am. Well, when we got to the hospital, did blood work, and got all the final paperwork done... we were hit with the lovely news that our 9am appointment was pushed back anywhere from 2-6hrs. Joshua and I waited, and waited, and waited. Finally around 2:30pm, they take me back, give me my spinal, hook me up to all the machines, call Joshua in, snap a few pictures, and @ 2:53pm Wyatt was born. He screamed bloody murder from the word go, and @ 1min was a 9 and a 10 @ 5min. We snapped a few more pictures, they wheeled Wyatt out and Joshua left with him to head off to the nursery. I had to stay to have my tubal done and then I was taken to recovery. Within 30mins, Joshua and Wyatt came in recovery for his first feeding. I was still sooo numb and trying to nurse him was NOT easy. I got it done somehow, snapped some more pictures and they took him back to the nursery. Joshua stayed with me for a while, then went to see our family who had just arrived in the waiting room. We were in the hospital until Thursday morning, they almost had to keep Wyatt extra time because he was still pretty yellow, but we totally lucked out and they let him come home with us. It was one of the best times of my life!
