Olivia-May`s birthstory
I had been booked for induction on friday 24th. I was so nervous but still excited.
they monitored me and baby for a while, everything was fine, they`re were some contraction showing up, but nothing exciting.
So they gave me a pessary prostaglandin, had to lie down for 40 mins, after they told us to go for a walk, to try and help things come along since my cervix was 2cm and very thin. everyone else in my ward seemed to just lie there after this time, but i had to keep busy i couldnt just stay in bed all day.
Anyways the contractions started pretty much straight away. after our little walk i really started to notice them, i had one at 18min apart straight to 12, then to 9. I was feeling really ill and couldnt time them after this, they monitored me and they said everything seemed to becoming along really well, gave me some paracetamol which did nothing wht so ever. at around 7ish they were coming very closer together, i was in so much pain, i had a bath which didnt help much at all my midwife came and checked me i was 3cm she gave me another sweep which seemed to do the trick. At around 10ish they were coming 2mins apart, we told the midwife who just taken over and she didnt seem to interested like i was making it up. Finally at 11 she came and hooked me up, she checked me again i was 5cms dilated and she phone to see if the birth centre had any free rooms as it was much nicer thn L&D. Thnkfully they did, at 12 they took me down.
The room was so nice, big and i had a lot of space to walk around during my contractions. The midwife just left me too it, but checked the babys heart beat every 15mins, told me if i felt like i needed to push to just do it but she had to check her heart rate after each contraction, which at one point was no sooner she had wrote it down he had to do it gain. At 1:55 my waters broke, I was so happy. The contractions started coming thick and fast and very painful. But surprisingly pain relief wasn`t even a thought in my mind, i didnt even ask for gas and air until her head was nearly out, she gave the thing, i realised that i didnt even water it and threw it on the floor.
I was having some trouble pushing her head out, they kept telling me another push and it wont go back in. eventually the top was out, once i felt it i knew that with the next contraction i was going to push really really hard and i did her head came out, the next contraction seems miles away but she started trying to cry in between, FINALLY it came and one big push and my princess was out. 3:19.
Everything with her was fine she scored 9 on the apgars in the 1st min and 10 at 5mins. she was so alert. i was so over the moon to have her in my arms.
However, around 2 and a half hours after having her i went to have my shower, i passed out on my own in the bathroom banged my head. managed to get jamie to get help, they left me lying on the bathroom for around half an hour and then tried to get me up again, but this failed i passed out again, which meant i had to stay in the room and not get up, which was really hard because my little girl was crying but she was okay which was the main thing, they thought i may have had low iron but it wasn`t. who knows what it was. Had to stay in hospital all day saturday, wait for blood results to see what blood group baby was thankfully she was A-neg too. which meant i didnt have to have ne more Anti-D. Finally Sunday afternoon i was allowed home. where everything seems to be going so well!!!!

Dominic Sex: boy Born: 15 September, 2010 Age: 1 years & 153 days Birthday in: 212 days Starsign: Virgo Development: See the 17 months page. Biggest achievement so far: - |
Dominic was orginally due on 30th September, but at 36 weeks and 6days i had to go to hospital due to itching, i'd had it for a while, i mentioned it to my midwife who said to only worry if it was on my feet or palms of my hands. I had a shower the itching got soooo much worse, my legs swelled up and i had blotches all over me, they told me to get in quick so i could get the results back that day. they came back saying i had high bile acids, i was given meds and an appointment to return in four days for more bloods and a scan, the scan was fine and the bile levels had started to come down in the blood. I was sent to see a consultant who told me due to OC being linked with still birth, they induce mother at 38weeks, so i only had to wait until the friday, i was given a sweep at the appointment on the monday, i said to my partener that i didnt think it would work. i was very wrong the contractions started about 30mins later, i kept it to myself i didnt want to get excited and for the to stop. i managed to get a bit of sleep that night the next morning they were alot more painful and closer together, i phoned the hospital they said i could come in or stay at home. i chose to go in as to get checked, the kept me in and put me on a ward, once on the ward the contractions seemed to slow... then stopped. they kept stopping and starting until about 9pm where they kept coming close and strong, i was put on a monitor and they said as they werent the same intensities they werent classed as regular contractions and wouldnt examine again until they were or my waters broke.... this went on until the wednesday afternoon. I started crying cause i couldnt cope any more i was tired and they didnt seem to help me understand what was actually happening, i could see myself being there until friday when they would be allowed to start inducing me. as i started to cry the midwife walked in, she could see how upset i was getting and got the go ahead off her boss (as she was only a student) to examine me, she said she thought i was 6cms, her boss checked who thankfully said i was 7 and it was time to have my baby!!!! i got down to the labour ward at about half 3.... at 20past four the midwife examined me as she was considering breaking my waters cuz mine and the babies heart rate was high, as she examined me i contracted and they broke. 20 mins... 4pushes later Dominic David William Morris-Gould was born, he weighed 7lb 6oz and was 54 cms long. He was two weeks earlier but heavier and longer than my first born and she was two weeks overdue!!!
